요나

  본서는 요나의 니느웨 구원 사건을 통하여 이방인에게 미치는 하나님의 구원의 손길을 명확하게 보여 주고 있으며, 사흘 간 물고기의 뱃속에 갇힌 요나 사건을 통해서 예수님의 부활 사건을 예표하고 있다.

  요나는 니느웨 선교 소명을 받았으나 불순종하여 하나님을 피해 달아난다. 그러나 하나님의 섭리로 물고기에게 삼키우게 된다. 이에 요나는 회개하고 소명을 감당한다. 니느웨는 요나의 외침을 듣고 회개하여 심판을 면하게 된다. 그러자 이를 본 요나는 하나님께 불평하지만, 하나님께서는 그에게 박 넝쿨의 교훈을 통해 하나님은 만민의 하나님이심을 깨우쳐 주신다.

 

 

요나 1:1-4:11

 요나는 하나님의 말씀을 전하도록 니느웨로 보내심을 받았으나 순종치 않고 배를 타고 도망하였다. 그러나 하나님께서 풍랑을 보내셔서 파선하게 되자, 그는 자신의 죄를 고백하고 바다에 던져졌다. 큰 물고기에게 삼켜져 그 뱃속에서 3일 간 회개하고 구원받은 요나는 니느웨(TM)에서 회개를 외쳤다. 그러나 그들이 회개하고 구원받자 하나님께 화를 내며 불평하였다. 이에 하나님께서는 박 넝쿨을 통해 그를 교훈하셨다.
  
  요나 선지자(1:1-4:11)    
 
  1. The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai:
  2. "Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me."
  3. But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD.
  4. Then the LORD sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.
  5. All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep.
  1. 主の 言葉が アミッタイ の 子 ヨナ に 臨んで 言った，
  2. 「立って， あの 大きな 町 ニネベ に 行き， これに 向かって 呼ばわれ． 彼らの 惡がわたしの 前に 上ってきたからである 」．
  3. しかし ヨナ は 主の 前を 離れて タルシシ へのがれようと， 立って ヨッパ に 下って 行った． ところがちょうど， タルシシ へ 行く 船があったので， 船賃を 拂い， 主の 前を 離れて， 人¿と 共に タルシシ へ 行こうと 船に 乘った．
  4. 時に， 主は 大風を 海の 上に 起されたので， 船が 破れるほどの 激しい 暴風が 海の 上にあった．
  5. それで 水夫たちは 恐れて， めいめい 自分の 神を 呼び 求め， また 船を 輕くするため， その 中の 積み 荷を 海に 投げ 捨てた． しかし， ヨナ は 船の 奧に 下り， 伏して 熟睡していた．
  1. The captain went to him and said, "How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us, and we will not perish."
  2. Then the sailors said to each other, "Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity." They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah.
  3. So they asked him, "Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?"
  4. He answered, "I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land."
  5. This terrified them and they asked, "What have you done?" (They knew he was running away from the LORD, because he had already told them so.)
  1. そこで 船長は 來て， 彼に 言った， 「あなたはどうして 眠っているのか． 起きて， あなたの 神に 呼ばわりなさい． 神があるいは， われわれを 顧みて， 助けてくださるだろう 」．
  2. やがて 人¿は 互に 言った， 「この 災がわれわれに 臨んだのは， だれのせいか 知るために， さあ， くじを 引いてみよう 」． そして 彼らが， くじを 引いたところ， くじは ヨナ に 當った．
  3. そこで 人¿は ヨナ に 言った， 「この 災がだれのせいで， われわれに 臨んだのか， われわれに 告げなさい． あなたの 職業は 何か． あなたはどこから 來たのか． あなたの 國はどこか． あなたはどこの 民か 」．
  4. ヨナ は 彼らに 言った， 「わたしは ヘブル びとです． わたしは 海と 陸とをお 造りになった 天の 神， 主を 恐れる 者です 」．
  5. そこで 人¿ははなはだしく 恐れて， 彼に 言った， 「あなたはなんたる 事をしてくれたのか 」． 人¿は 彼がさきに 彼らに 告げた 事によって， 彼が 主の 前を 離れて， のがれようとしていた 事を 知っていたからである．
  1. The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, "What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?"
  2. "Pick me up and throw me into the sea," he replied, "and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you."
  3. Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before.
  4. Then they cried to the LORD, "O LORD, please do not let us die for taking this man's life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man, for you, O LORD, have done as you pleased."
  5. Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm.
  1. 人¿は 彼に 言った， 「われわれのために 海が 靜まるには， あなたをどうしたらよかろうか 」． それは 海がますます 荒れてきたからである．
  2. ヨナ は 彼らに 言った， 「わたしを 取って 海に 投げ 入れなさい． そうしたら 海は， あなたがたのために 靜まるでしょう． わたしにはよくわかっています． この 激しい 暴風があなたがたに 臨んだのは， わたしのせいです 」．
  3. しかし 人¿は 船を 陸にこぎもどそうとつとめたが， 成功しなかった． それは 海が 彼らに 逆らって， いよいよ 荒れたからである．
  4. そこで 人¿は 主に 呼ばわって 言った， 「主よ， どうぞ， この 人の 生命のために， われわれを 滅ぼさないでください． また 罪なき 血を， われわれに 歸しないでください． 主よ， これはみ 心に 從って， なされた 事だからです 」．
  5. そして 彼らは ヨナ を 取って 海に 投げ 入れた． すると 海の 荒れるのがやんだ．
  1. At this the men greatly feared the LORD, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to him.
  2. But the LORD provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights.
  1. そこで 人¿は 大いに 主を 恐れ， ¿牲を 主にささげて， 誓願を 立てた．
  2. 主は 大いなる 魚を 備えて， ヨナ をのませられた． ヨナ は 三日三夜その 魚の 腹の 中にいた．
 
 
  1. From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the LORD his God.
  2. He said: "In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry.
  3. You hurled me into the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me.
  4. I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.'
  5. The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head.
  1. ヨナ は 魚の 腹の 中からその 神， 主に 祈って，
  2. 言った， 「わたしは 惱みのうちから 主に 呼ばわると， 主はわたしに 答えられた． わたしが 陰府の 腹の 中から 叫ぶと， あなたはわたしの 聲を 聞かれた．
  3. あなたはわたしを 淵の 中， 海のまん 中に 投げ 入れられた． 大水はわたしをめぐり， あなたの 波と 大波は 皆， わたしの 上を 越えて 行った．
  4. わたしは 言った， 『わたしはあなたの 前から 追われてしまった， どうして 再びあなたの 聖なる 宮を 望みえようか 』．
  5. 水がわたしをめぐって 魂にまでおよび， 淵はわたしを 取り 圍み， 海草は 山の 根元でわたしの 頭にまといついた．
  1. To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O LORD my God.
  2. "When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, LORD, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple.
  3. "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.
  4. But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD."
  5. And the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.
  1. わたしは 地に 下り， 地の 貫の 木はいつもわたしの 上にあった． しかしわが 神， 主よ， あなたはわが 命を 穴から 救いあげられた．
  2. わが 魂がわたしのうちに 弱っているとき， わたしは 主をおぼえ， わたしの 祈はあなたに 至り， あなたの 聖なる 宮に 達した．
  3. むなしい 偶像に 心を 寄せる 者は， そのまことの 忠節を 捨てる．
  4. しかしわたしは 感謝の 聲をもって， あなたに ¿牲をささげ， わたしの 誓いをはたす． 救は 主にある 」．
  5. 主は 魚にお 命じになったので， 魚は ヨナ を 陸に 吐き 出した．
 
 
  1. Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time:
  2. "Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you."
  3. Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very important city--a visit required three days.
  4. On the first day, Jonah started into the city. He proclaimed: "Forty more days and Nineveh will be overturned."
  5. The Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
  1. 時に 主の 言葉は 再び ヨナ に 臨んで 言った，
  2. 「立って， あの 大きな 町 ニネベ に 行き， あなたに 命じる 言葉をこれに 傳えよ 」．
  3. そこで ヨナ は 主の 言葉に 從い， 立って， ニネベ に 行った． ニネベ は 非常に 大きな 町であって， これを 行きめぐるには， 三日を 要するほどであった．
  4. ヨナ はその 町にはいり， 初め 一日路を 行きめぐって 呼ばわり， 「四十日を 經たら ニネベ は 滅びる 」と 言った．
  5. そこで ニネベ の 人¿は 神を 信じ， 斷食をふれ， 大きい 者から 小さい 者まで 荒布を 着た．
  1. When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.
  2. Then he issued a proclamation in Nineveh: "By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let any man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.
  3. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.
  4. Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish."
  5. When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.
  1. このうわさが ニネベ の 王に 達すると， 彼はその 王座から 立ち 上がり， 朝服を 脫ぎ， 荒布をまとい， 灰の 中に 座した．
  2. また 王とその 大臣の 布告をもって， ニネベ 中にふれさせて 言った， 「人も ¿も 牛も 羊もみな， 何をも 味わってはならない． 物を 食い， 水を 飮んではならない．
  3. 人も ¿も 荒布をまとい， ひたすら 神に 呼ばわり， おのおのその 惡い 道およびその 手にある 强暴を 離れよ．
  4. あるいは 神はみ 心をかえ， その 激しい 怒りをやめて， われわれを 滅ぼされないかもしれない． だれがそれを 知るだろう 」．
  5. 神は 彼らのなすところ， その 惡い 道を 離れたのを 見られ， 彼らの 上に 下そうと 言われた 災を 思いかえして， これをおやめになった．
 
 
  1. But Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry.
  2. He prayed to the LORD, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home? That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.
  3. Now, O LORD, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live."
  4. But the LORD replied, "Have you any right to be angry?"
  5. Jonah went out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen to the city.
  1. ところが ヨナ はこれを 非常に 不快として， 激しく 怒り，
  2. 主に 祈って 言った， 「主よ， わたしがなお 國におりました 時， この 事を 申したではありませんか． それでこそわたしは， 急いで タルシシ にのがれようとしたのです． なぜなら， わたしはあなたが 惠み 深い 神， あわれみあり， 怒ることおそく， いつくしみ 豊かで， 災を 思いかえされることを， 知っていたからです．
  3. それで 主よ， どうぞ 今わたしの 命をとってください． わたしにとっては， 生きるよりも 死ぬ 方がましだからです 」．
  4. 主は 言われた， 「あなたの 怒るのは， よいことであろうか 」．
  5. そこで ヨナ は 町から 出て， 町の 東の 方に 座し， そこに 自分のために 一つの 小屋を 造り， 町のなりゆきを 見きわめようと， その 下の 日陰にすわっていた．
  1. Then the LORD God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine.
  2. But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the vine so that it withered.
  3. When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah's head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, "It would be better for me to die than to live."
  4. But God said to Jonah, "Do you have a right to be angry about the vine?" "I do," he said. "I am angry enough to die."
  5. But the LORD said, "You have been concerned about this vine, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight.
  1. 時に 主なる 神は， ヨナ を 暑さの 苦痛から 救うために， とうごまを 備えて， それを 育て， ヨナ の 頭の 上に 日陰を 設けた． ヨナ はこのとうごまを 非常に 喜んだ．
  2. ところが 神は 翌日の 夜明けに 蟲を 備えて， そのとうごまをかませられたので， それは 枯れた．
  3. やがて 太陽が 出たとき， 神が 暑い 東風を 備え， また 太陽が ヨナ の 頭を 照したので， ヨナ は 弱りはて， 死ぬことを 願って 言った， 「生きるよりも 死ぬ 方がわたしにはましだ 」．
  4. しかし 神は ヨナ に 言われた， 「とうごまのためにあなたの 怒るのはよくない 」． ヨナ は 言った， 「わたしは 怒りのあまり 狂い 死にそうです 」．
  5. 主は 言われた， 「あなたは 勞せず， 育てず， 一夜に 生じて， 一夜に 滅びたこのとうごまをさえ， 惜しんでいる．
  1. But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?"
  1. ましてわたしは 十二万あまりの， 右左をわきまえない 人¿と， あまたの 家畜とのいるこの 大きな 町 ニネベ を， 惜しまないでいられようか 」．
