- The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss.
- When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss.
- And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth.
- They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
- They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man.

- 第五の 御使が， ラッパ を 吹き 鳴らした． するとわたしは， 一つの 星が 天から 地に 落ちて 來るのを 見た． この 星に， 底知れぬ 所の 穴を 開くかぎが 與えられた．
- そして， この 底知れぬ 所の 穴が 開かれた． すると， その 穴から 煙が 大きな 爐の 煙のように 立ちのぼり， その 穴の 煙で， 太陽も 空氣も 暗くなった．
- その 煙の 中から， いなごが 地上に 出てきたが， 地のさそりが 持っているような 力が， 彼らに 與えられた．
- 彼らは， 地の 草やすべての 靑草， またすべての 木をそこなってはならないが， 額に 神の 印がない 人たちには 害を 加えてもよいと， 言い 渡された．
- 彼らは， 人間を 殺すことはしないで， 五か 月のあいだ 苦しめることだけが 許された． 彼らの 與える 苦痛は， 人がさそりにさされる 時のような 苦痛であった．

- During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.
- The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.
- Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth.
- They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.
- They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.

- その 時には， 人¿は 死を 求めても 與えられず， 死にたいと 願っても， 死は 逃げて 行くのである．
- これらのいなごは， 出陣の 用意のととのえられた 馬によく 似ており， その 頭には 金の 冠のようなものをつけ， その 顔は 人間の 顔のようであり，
- また， そのかみの 毛は 女のかみのようであり， その 齒はししの 齒のようであった．
- また， 鐵の 胸當のような 胸當をつけており， その 羽の 音は， 馬に 引かれて 戰場に 急ぐ 多くの 戰車の 響きのようであった．
- その 上， さそりのような 尾と 針とを 持っている． その 尾には， 五か 月のあいだ 人間をそこなう 力がある．

- They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon.
- The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.
- The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God.
- It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."
- And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

- 彼らは， 底知れぬ 所の 使を 王にいただいており， その 名を ヘブル 語で アバドン と 言い， ギリシヤ 語では アポルオン と 言う．
- 第一のわざわいは， 過ぎ 去った． 見よ， この 後， なお 二つのわざわいが 來る．
- 第六の 御使が， ラッパ を 吹き 鳴らした． すると， 一つの 聲が， 神のみまえにある 金の 祭壇の 四つの 角から 出て，
- ラッパ を 持っている 第六の 御使にこう 呼びかけるのを， わたしは 聞いた． 「大 ユウフラテ 川のほとりにつながれている 四人の 御使を， 解いてやれ 」．
- すると， その 時， その 日， その 月， その 年に 備えておかれた 四人の 御使が， 人間の 三分の 一を 殺すために， 解き 放たれた．

- The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number.
- The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur.
- A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.
- The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
- The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood--idols that cannot see or hear or walk.

- 騎兵隊の 數は 二億であった． わたしはその 數を 聞いた．
- そして， まぼろしの 中で， それらの 馬とそれに 乘っている 者たちとを 見ると， 乘っている 者たちは， 火の 色と 靑玉色と 硫黃の 色の 胸當をつけていた． そして， それらの 馬の 頭はししの 頭のようであって， その 口から 火と 煙と 硫黃とが， 出ていた．
- この 三つの 災害， すなわち， 彼らの 口から 出て 來る 火と 煙と 硫黃とによって， 人間の 三分の 一は 殺されてしまった．
- 馬の 力はその 口と 尾とにある． その 尾はへびに 似ていて， それに 頭があり， その 頭で 人に 害を 加えるのである．
- これらの 災害で 殺されずに 殘った 人¿は， 自分の 手で 造ったものについて， 悔い 改めようとせず， また 惡靈のたぐいや， 金 ·銀 ·銅 ·石 ·木で 造られ， 見ることも 聞くことも 步くこともできない 偶像を 禮拜して， やめようともしなかった．

- Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

- また， 彼らは， その 犯した 殺人や， まじないや， 不品行や， 盜みを 悔い 改めようとしなかった．
