에스라

본서는 하나님께서 예레미야를 통해 말씀하신 예언(렘 29:10-14), 즉 이스라엘 민족을 70년간의 포로 생활 후 다시 가나안 땅으로 인도하시리라는 약속의 성취 과정을 기록하고 있다. 그래서 이스라엘의 회복, 신앙과 예배의 구심적인 성전 재건, 야웨 신앙의 순수성 확립을 강조하고 있다.

이스라엘 민족의 귀환은 3차에 걸쳐 이루어졌는데, 1,2차 귀환의 내용이 본서에 기록되고 있다. 1차 귀환과 성전 재건은 스룹바벨과 예수아를 중심으로 이루어졌으며, 2차 귀환은 에스라를 중심으로 이루어졌다. 에스라는 도덕적, 영적으로 폐허가 된 유대인들의 마음에 하나님의 법을 재건하는 신앙 개혁 운동을 일으켰다.

	에스라 1:1-2:70 하나님께서는 바사 왕 고레스의 마음을 감동시키셔서 이스라엘 백성에게 유다 예루살렘에 올라가 하나님의 전을 건축하라는 조서를 내리게 하셨다. 바벨론에서의 포로 생활을 청산하고 예루살렘으로 귀환한 사람들의 명단이 기록되어 있다.

	고레스의 조서(1:1-1:11)

In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken by Jeremiah, the LORD moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and to put it in writing:

"This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: " 'The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.

Anyone of his people among you--may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem in Judah and build the temple of the LORD, the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem.

And the people of any place where survivors may now be living are to provide him with silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with freewill offerings for the temple of God in Jerusalem.' "

Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites--everyone whose heart God had moved--prepared to go up and build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem.

ペルシアの王キュロスの第一年のことである．主はかつてエレミヤの口によって約束されたことを成就するため，ペルシアの王キュロスの心を動かされた．キュロスは文書にも記して，國中に次のような布告を行き渡らせた．

「ペルシアの王キュロスはこう言う．天にいます神，主は，地上のすべての國をわたしに賜った．この主がユダのエルサレムに御自分の神殿を建てることをわたしに命じられた．

あなたたちの中で主の民に屬する者はだれでも，エルサレムにいますイスラエルの神，主の神殿を建てるために，ユダのエルサレムに上って行くがよい．神が共にいてくださるように．

すべての殘りの者には，どこに寄留している者にも，その所の人¿は銀，金，家財，家畜，エルサレムの神殿への隨意の獻げ物を持たせるようにせよ．」

そこで，ユダとベニヤミンの家長，祭司，レビ人，つまり神に心を動かされた者は皆，エルサレムの主の神殿を建てるために上って行こうとした．

All their neighbors assisted them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with valuable gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings.

Moreover, King Cyrus brought out the articles belonging to the temple of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem and had placed in the temple of his god.

Cyrus king of Persia had them brought by Mithredath the treasurer, who counted them out to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah.

周圍の人¿は皆，あらゆる隨意の獻げ物のほかに，銀と金の器，家財，家畜，高價な贈り物をもって彼らを支援した．

キュロス王は，ネブカドネツァルがエルサレムの主の神殿から出させて，自分の神¿の宮に納めた祭具類を取り出させた．

ペルシアの王キュロスは財務官ミトレダトによってそれを取り出させ，ユダの首長シェシュバツァルの前で數えさせたところ，

その數は次のとおりであった．金の容器三十，銀の容器一千，小刀二十九，

金杯三十，二級品の銀杯四百十，その他の祭具一千，

In all, there were 5,400 articles of gold and of silver. Sheshbazzar brought all these along when the exiles came up from Babylon to Jerusalem.

以上金銀の祭具の合計五千四百．シェシュバツァルは，捕囚の民がバビロンからエルサレムに上って來たとき，これらの品¿をすべて携えて上った．

Now these are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken captive to Babylon (they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,

神殿の使用人およびソロモンの使用人の一族，合計三百九十二人．

テル · メラ，テル · ハルシャ，ケルブ，アダン，イメルから上って來たが，自分の家族と血筋が，イスラエルに屬するかどうか示せなかった者は次のとおりである．

デラヤの一族，トビヤの一族，ネコダの一族，六百五十二人．

And from among the priests: The descendants of Hobaiah, Hakkoz and Barzillai (a man who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by that name).

These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.

The governor ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there was a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.

The whole company numbered 42,360,

besides their 7,337 menservants and maidservants; and they also had 200 men and women singers.

また祭司の一族のうち，ホバヤの一族，ハコツの一族，ギレアド人バルジライの娘の一人をめとったので，その名が由來するバルジライの一族は，

自分たちの家系の記錄を搜したが發見できず，祭司職に就くことを禁じられた．

總督は，ウリムとトンミムをつけた祭司が立つまで彼らが聖なる食べ物にあずかることを禁じた．

會衆の總數は，四万二千三百六十人であった．

ほかに男女の使用人がいて，それが七千三百三十七人いた．また，男女の詠唱者が二百人いた．

They had 736 horses, 245 mules,

435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.

When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings toward the rebuilding of the house of God on its site.

According to their ability they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 drachmas of gold, 5,000 minas of silver and 100 priestly garments.

The priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers and the temple servants settled in their own towns, along with some of the other people, and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.

彼らの馬は七百三十六頭，らばは二百四十五頭，

らくだは四百三十五頭，ろばは六千七百二十頭であった．

エルサレムの主の神殿に着くと，家長の幾人かは，神殿をその場所に再建するために隨意の獻げ物をささげた．

彼らはそれぞれ力に應じて工事の會計に金六万一千ドラクメ，銀五千マネ，祭服百着を差し出した．

祭司，レビ人，民の一部，詠唱者，門衛，神殿の使用人はそれぞれ自分たちの町に住んだ．イスラエル人は皆それぞれ，自分たちの町に住んだ．
