- ヨハネ は， 神の 言葉と イエス · キリスト の 證し， すなわち， 自分の 見たすべてのことを 證しした．

- その 聲はこう 言った． 「あなたの 見ていることを 卷物に 書いて， エフェソ ， スミルナ ， ペルガモン ， ティアティラ ， サルディス ， フィラデルフィア ， ラオディキア の 七つの 敎會に 送れ． 」
- わたしは， 語りかける 聲の 主を 見ようとして 振り 向いた． 振り 向くと， 七つの 金の 燭台が 見え，
- 燭台の 中央には， 人の 子のような 方がおり， 足まで 屆く 衣を 着て， 胸には 金の 帶を 締めておられた．
- その 頭， その 髮の 毛は， 白い 羊毛に 似て， 雪のように 白く， 目はまるで 燃え 盛る 炎，
- 足は 爐で 精鍊されたしんちゅうのように 輝き， 聲は 大水のとどろきのようであった．

- In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
- When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.

- 右の 手に 七つの 星を 持ち， 口からは 銳い 兩刃の 劍が 出て， 顔は 强く 照り 輝く 太陽のようであった．
- わたしは， その 方を 見ると， その 足もとに 倒れて， 死んだようになった． すると， その 方は 右手をわたしの 上に 置いて 言われた． 「恐れるな． わたしは 最初の 者にして 最後の 者，
- また 生きている 者である． 一度は 死んだが， 見よ， 世¿限りなく 生きて， 死と 陰府の 鍵を 持っている．
- さあ， 見たことを， 今あることを， 今後起ころうとしていることを 書き 留めよ．
- あなたは， わたしの 右の 手に 七つの 星と， 七つの 金の 燭台とを 見たが， それらの 秘められた 意味はこうだ． 七つの 星は 七つの 敎會の 天使たち， 七つの 燭台は 七つの 敎會である．
