- The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss.
- When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss.
- And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth.
- They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
- They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man.

- 第五の 天使が ラッパ を 吹いた． すると， 一つの 星が 天から 地上へ 落ちて 來るのが 見えた． この 星に， 底なしの 淵に 通じる 穴を 開く 鍵が 與えられ，
- それが 底なしの 淵の 穴を 開くと， 大きなかまどから 出るような 煙が 穴から 立ち 上り， 太陽も 空も 穴からの 煙のために 暗くなった．
- そして， 煙の 中から， いなごの 群れが 地上へ 出て 來た． このいなごには， 地に 住むさそりが 持っているような 力が 與えられた．
- いなごは， 地や 草やどんな 靑物も， またどんな 木も 損なってはならないが， ただ， 額に 神の 刻印を 押されていない 人には 害を 加えてもよい， と 言い 渡された．
- 殺してはいけないが， 五か 月の 間， 苦しめることは 許されたのである． いなごが 與える 苦痛は， さそりが 人を 刺したときの 苦痛のようであった．

- During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.
- The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.
- Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth.
- They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.
- They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.

- この 人¿は， その 期間， 死にたいと 思っても 死ぬことができず， 切に 死を 望んでも， 死の 方が 逃げて 行く．
- さて， いなごの 姿は， 出陣の 用意を 整えた 馬に 似て， 頭には 金の 冠に 似たものを 着け， 顔は 人間の 顔のようであった．
- また， 髮は 女の 髮のようで， 齒は 獅子の 齒のようであった．
- また， 胸には 鐵の 胸當てのようなものを 着け， その 羽の 音は， 多くの 馬に 引かれて 戰場に 急ぐ 戰車の 響きのようであった．
- 更に， さそりのように， 尾と 針があって， この 尾には， 五か 月の 間， 人に 害を 加える 力があった．

- They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon.
- The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.
- The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God.
- It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."
- And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

- いなごは， 底なしの 淵の 使いを 王としていただいている． その 名は， ヘブライ 語で アバドン といい， ギリシア 語の 名は アポリオン という．
- 第一の 災いが 過ぎ 去った． 見よ， この 後， 更に 二つの 災いがやって 來る．
- 第六の 天使が ラッパ を 吹いた． すると， 神の 御前にある 金の 祭壇の 四本の 角から 一つの 聲が 聞こえた．
- その 聲は， ラッパ を 持っている 第六の 天使に 向かってこう 言った． 「大きな 川， ユ ― フラテス のほとりにつながれている 四人の 天使を 放してやれ． 」
- 四人の 天使は， 人間の 三分の 一を 殺すために 解き 放された． この 天使たちは， その 年， その 月， その 日， その 時間のために 用意されていたのである．

- The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number.
- The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur.
- A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.
- The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
- The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood--idols that cannot see or hear or walk.

- その 騎兵の 數は 二億， わたしはその 數を 聞いた．
- わたしは 幻の 中で 馬とそれに 乘っている 者たちを 見たが， その 樣子はこうであった． 彼らは， 炎， 紫， および 硫黃の 色の 胸當てを 着けており， 馬の 頭は 獅子の 頭のようで， 口からは 火と 煙と 硫黃とを 吐いていた．
- その 口から 吐く 火と 煙と 硫黃， この 三つの 災いで 人間の 三分の 一が 殺された．
- 馬の 力は 口と 尾にあって， 尾は 蛇に 似て 頭があり， この 頭で 害を 加えるのである．
- これらの 災いに 遭っても 殺されずに 殘った 人間は， 自分の 手で 造ったものについて 悔い 改めず， なおも， 惡靈どもや， 金， 銀， 銅， 石， 木それぞれで 造った 偶像を 禮拜することをやめなかった． このような 偶像は， 見ることも， 聞くことも， 步くこともできないものである．

- Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

- また 彼らは 人を 殺すこと， まじない， みだらな 行い， 盜みを 悔い 改めなかった．
