  1. The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them: 'A priest must not make himself ceremonially unclean for any of his people who die,
  2. except for a close relative, such as his mother or father, his son or daughter, his brother,
  3. or an unmarried sister who is dependent on him since she has no husband--for her he may make himself unclean.
  4. He must not make himself unclean for people related to him by marriage, and so defile himself.
  5. " 'Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards or cut their bodies.
  1. And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:
  2. But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.
  3. And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.
  4. But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.
  5. They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
  1. They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God. Because they present the offerings made to the LORD by fire, the food of their God, they are to be holy.
  2. " 'They must not marry women defiled by prostitution or divorced from their husbands, because priests are holy to their God.
  3. Regard them as holy, because they offer up the food of your God. Consider them holy, because I the LORD am holy--I who make you holy.
  4. " 'If a priest's daughter defiles herself by becoming a prostitute, she disgraces her father; she must be burned in the fire.
  5. " 'The high priest, the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair become unkempt or tear his clothes.
  1. They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
  2. They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.
  3. Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.
  4. And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
  5. And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;
  1. He must not enter a place where there is a dead body. He must not make himself unclean, even for his father or mother,
  2. nor leave the sanctuary of his God or desecrate it, because he has been dedicated by the anointing oil of his God. I am the LORD.
  3. " 'The woman he marries must be a virgin.
  4. He must not marry a widow, a divorced woman, or a woman defiled by prostitution, but only a virgin from his own people,
  5. so he will not defile his offspring among his people. I am the LORD, who makes him holy. ' "
  1. Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;
  2. Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.
  3. And he shall take a wife in her virginity.
  4. A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.
  5. Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him.
  1. The LORD said to Moses,
  2. "Say to Aaron: 'For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God.
  3. No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed;
  4. no man with a crippled foot or hand,
  5. or who is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles.
  1. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
  2. Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
  3. For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,
  4. Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
  5. Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
  1. No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the offerings made to the LORD by fire. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God.
  2. He may eat the most holy food of his God, as well as the holy food;
  3. yet because of his defect, he must not go near the curtain or approach the altar, and so desecrate my sanctuary. I am the LORD, who makes them holy. ' "
  4. So Moses told this to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites.
  1. No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.
  2. He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.
  3. Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.
  4. And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

  1. The LORD said to Moses,
  2. "Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings the Israelites consecrate to me, so they will not profane my holy name. I am the LORD.
  3. "Say to them: 'For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD.
  4. " 'If a descendant of Aaron has an infectious skin disease or a bodily discharge, he may not eat the sacred offerings until he is cleansed. He will also be unclean if he touches something defiled by a corpse or by anyone who has an emission of semen,
  5. or if he touches any crawling thing that makes him unclean, or any person who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be.
  1. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
  2. Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD.
  3. Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.
  4. What man soever of the seed of Aaron is a leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him;
  5. Or whosoever toucheth any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatsoever uncleanness he hath;
  1. The one who touches any such thing will be unclean till evening. He must not eat any of the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.
  2. When the sun goes down, he will be clean, and after that he may eat the sacred offerings, for they are his food.
  3. He must not eat anything found dead or torn by wild animals, and so become unclean through it. I am the LORD.
  4. " 'The priests are to keep my requirements so that they do not become guilty and die for treating them with contempt. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.
  5. " 'No one outside a priest's family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it.
  1. The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water.
  2. And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food.
  3. That which dieth of itself, or is torn with beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself therewith; I am the LORD.
  4. They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.
  5. There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.
  1. But if a priest buys a slave with money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.
  2. If a priest's daughter marries anyone other than a priest, she may not eat any of the sacred contributions.
  3. But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, yet has no children, and she returns to live in her father's house as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food. No unauthorized person, however, may eat any of it.
  4. " 'If anyone eats a sacred offering by mistake, he must make restitution to the priest for the offering and add a fifth of the value to it.
  5. The priests must not desecrate the sacred offerings the Israelites present to the LORD
  1. But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.
  2. If the priest's daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.
  3. But if the priest's daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child, and is returned unto her father's house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father's meat: but there shall be no stranger eat thereof.
  4. And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give it unto the priest with the holy thing.
  5. And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer unto the LORD;
  1. by allowing them to eat the sacred offerings and so bring upon them guilt requiring payment. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.' "
  2. The LORD said to Moses,
  3. "Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: 'If any of you--either an Israelite or an alien living in Israel--presents a gift for a burnt offering to the LORD, either to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering,
  4. you must present a male without defect from the cattle, sheep or goats in order that it may be accepted on your behalf.
  5. Do not bring anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.
  1. Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do sanctify them.
  2. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
  3. Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all his freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering;
  4. Ye shall offer at your own will a male without blemish, of the beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats.
  5. But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you.
  1. When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable.
  2. Do not offer to the LORD the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as an offering made to the LORD by fire.
  3. You may, however, present as a freewill offering an ox or a sheep that is deformed or stunted, but it will not be accepted in fulfillment of a vow.
  4. You must not offer to the LORD an animal whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn or cut. You must not do this in your own land,
  5. and you must not accept such animals from the hand of a foreigner and offer them as the food of your God. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and have defects.' "
  1. And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein.
  2. Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD.
  3. Either a bullock or a lamb that hath any thing superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.
  4. Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land.
  5. Neither from a stranger's hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted for you.
  1. The LORD said to Moses,
  2. "When a calf, a lamb or a goat is born, it is to remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as an offering made to the LORD by fire.
  3. Do not slaughter a cow or a sheep and its young on the same day.
  4. "When you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, sacrifice it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf.
  5. It must be eaten that same day; leave none of it till morning. I am the LORD.
  1. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
  2. When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
  3. And whether it be cow, or ewe, ye shall not kill it and her young both in one day.
  4. And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.
  5. On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall leave none of it until the morrow: I am the LORD.
  1. "Keep my commands and follow them. I am the LORD.
  2. Do not profane my holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the LORD, who makes you holy
  3. and who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD."
  1. Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD.
  2. Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you,
  3. That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD.
