예레미야 7:1-8:22

 유다의 죄는 성전 예배에서도 지적되었다. 즉 유다 백성들은 성전에서 제사를 드리면서 우상을 숭배하였고, 영적 지도자들은 율법을 잘못 해석하고 기록하여 백성들을 잘못 인도하였다. 하나님께서는 이 죄를 회개하지 않으면 형벌을 내리겠다고 선언하셨지만, 유다는 끝내 회개하지 않아 바벨론의 침략이라는 하나님의 징계를 받게 되었다.
  
  유다의 책망(7:1-8:3)    
 
  1. This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD :
  2. "Stand at the gate of the LORD's house and there proclaim this message: " 'Hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the LORD.
  3. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place.
  4. Do not trust in deceptive words and say, "This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD!"
  5. If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,
  1. 야훼께서 예레미야에게 내리신 말씀이다.
  2. "너는 야훼의 성전 대문에 가 서서, '야훼께 예배하러 이 문으로 들어오는 유다 사람은 모두 야훼의 말씀을 들어라.' 하고 이렇게 큰소리로 일러주어라.
  3. '나 만군의 야훼가 이스라엘의 하느님으로서 말한다. 너희는 생활 태도를 고쳐라. 그래야 나는 너희를 여기에서 살게 하리라.
  4. 이것은 야훼의 성전이다, 야훼의 성전이다, 야훼의 성전이다, 한다마는 그런 빈말을 믿어 안심하지 말고
  5. 너희의 생활 태도를 깨끗이 고쳐라. 너희 사이에 억울한 일이 없도록 하여라.
  1. if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm,
  2. then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever.
  3. But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
  4. " 'Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,
  5. and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, "We are safe"-safe to do all these detestable things?
  1. 유랑인과 고아와 과부를 억누르지 마라. 이 곳에서 죄없는 사람을 죽여 피를 흘리지 마라. 다른 신을 따라가 재앙을 불러들이지 마라.
  2. 그래야 한 옛날에 너희 조상에게 길이 살라고 준 이 땅에서 너희를 살게 하리라.
  3. 그런데 너희는 그런 빈말만 믿어 안심하고 있다. 그러다가는 모두 허사가 된다.
  4. 너희는 훔치고 죽이고 간음하고 위증하고 바알에게 분향하고 있다. 알지도 못하는 다른 신들을 따라가고 있다.
  5. 그리고 나의 이름으로 불리는 이 성전으로 찾아와 나의 앞에 나서서 살려주셔서 고맙다고 하고는 또 갖가지 역겨운 짓을 그대로 하고 있으니,
  1. Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the LORD.
  2. " 'Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.
  3. While you were doing all these things, declares the LORD, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer.
  4. Therefore, what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears my Name, the temple you trust in, the place I gave to you and your fathers.
  5. I will thrust you from my presence, just as I did all your brothers, the people of Ephraim.'
  1. 나의 이름으로 불리는 이 집이 너희 눈에는 도둑의 소굴로 보이느냐? 너희가 하는 짓을 나는 이 눈으로 똑똑히 보았다. 내 말이니 잘 들어라.
  2. 내가 너희의 살 곳으로 예전에 지명했던 실로에 가보아라. 내 백성 이스라엘이 못되게 굴다가 나에게 어떤 벌을 받았는지 가보아라.
  3. 그런데 너희도 이제 꼭 같은 일을 하고 있다. 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 내가 아무리 타일러도 너희는 듣지 않았다. 불러도 대답하지 않았다.
  4. 나의 이름으로 불리는 성전을 믿고 안심하지만, 나는 실로를 해치웠듯이 이 곳을 해치우고 말리라. 자손 대대로 살라고 내가 너희 조상들에게 준 이 땅을 해치울 것이다.
  5. 너희와 한 겨레인 에브라임 족속을 다 내쫓았듯이 너희도 내 앞에서 쫓아버리리라.'
  1. "So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.
  2. Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
  3. The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes of bread for the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to provoke me to anger.
  4. But am I the one they are provoking? declares the LORD. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?
  5. " 'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground, and it will burn and not be quenched.
  1. 너는 이런 백성을 너그럽게 보아달라고 빌지 마라. 용서해 달라고 울며불며 기도하지도 말고, 떼를 쓰지도 마라. 나는 너의 소리를 들어주지 않으리라.
  2. 유다 성읍들에서, 예루살렘 거리거리에서 사람들이 무슨 짓들을 하고 있는지 보이지 않느냐?
  3. 아들이 나무를 거두어오면 아비는 불을 지피고 어미는 밀가루를 반죽하여 그 불에 과자를 구워 하늘의 여왕에게 바치고 있다. 나 아닌 다른 신들에게 제주를 따라 바치고 있다. 내 속을 썩여주려고 그러겠지만,
  4. 내가 속이 썩을 것 같으냐? 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 도리어 저희가 창피당하려고 그 짓을 하는 것이다.
  5. 나 야훼가 선언한다. 나는 사람과 짐승, 들에 서 있는 나무, 땅에 서 있는 곡식을 가리지 않고 이 땅 위에 나의 맹렬한 진노를 쏟으리라. 아무도 타오르는 나의 분노를 끄지 못하리라.
  1. " 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves!
  2. For when I brought your forefathers out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices,
  3. but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you.
  4. But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.
  5. From the time your forefathers left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets.
  1. 나 만군의 야훼가 이스라엘의 하느님으로서 선언한다. 친교제에다가 번제를 보태어 바치고, 그 고기를 처먹어라.
  2. 너희 조상들을 이집트에서 데려내올 때, 내가 번제와 친교제를 바치라고 한 번이라도 시킨 일이 있더냐?
  3. 나는 내 말을 들으라고만 하였다. 그래야 내가 너희 하느님이 되고, 너희는 나의 백성이 된다고 하였다. 잘되려거든 내가 명하는 길을 따라 걸어야 한다고 하였을 뿐이다.
  4. 그런데 너희는 귀를 기울여 나의 말을 듣기는커녕 제멋대로 악한 생각에 끌려 나에게 등을 돌리고 나를 외면하였다.
  5. 너희 조상들이 이집트에서 나오던 날부터 오늘에 이르도록 나의 종 예언자들을 줄곧 보냈지만,
  1. But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their forefathers.'
  2. "When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.
  3. Therefore say to them, 'This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.
  4. Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the LORD has rejected and abandoned this generation that is under his wrath.
  5. " 'The people of Judah have done evil in my eyes, declares the LORD. They have set up their detestable idols in the house that bears my Name and have defiled it.
  1. 너희는 나의 말에 귀를 기울여 들으려고 하지 않았다. 고집이 세어 너희 조상들보다도 더 못되게 굴고 있다.
  2. 네가 이런 말을 다 일러주어도 이 백성은 너의 말을 듣지 않을 것이다. 외쳐보아도 대답하지 않을 것이다.
  3. 그러니 이런 말이나 하여주어라. '이 종족은 저희 하느님 야훼께서 무슨 말씀을 하셔도 듣지 않는 것들, 아무리 꾸짖어도 귓전으로 흘리는 것들, 이제 진실은 사라졌다. 진실을 말하는 입술은 어디에서도 찾아볼 수 없게 되었다.
  4. 너희는 머리채를 잘라버리고 언덕 위에 올라가 만가나 읊어라. 그 하는 짓이 노여우시어 야훼께서는 이 세대를 내던지셨다.'
  5. 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 유다인들이 나의 눈에 거슬리는 짓을 했는데 그냥 두겠느냐? 그들은 나의 이름으로 불리는 집에 내가 질색하는 우상을 세워놓고 섬김으로써 나의 집을 더럽히고 있다.
  1. They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire--something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.
  2. So beware, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when people will no longer call it Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter, for they will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.
  3. Then the carcasses of this people will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.
  4. I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the land will become desolate.
  1. 벤힌놈 골짜기에 도벳이라는 제단을 쌓고 저희 아들딸들을 불에 살랐다. 내가 언제 그런 일을 시켰더냐? 그런 짓은 꿈에도 생각해 본 일이 없다.
  2. 이제 그 곳을 다시는 도벳이라든가 벤힌놈 골짜기라고 하지 않고 살인 골짜기라고 부를 때가 올 것이다. 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 마침내 사람을 묻을 자리가 없어서 도벳에마저 무덤을 쓰다가
  3. 이 백성의 주검을 공중에 나는 새가 쪼아먹고 맹수가 뜯어먹어도, 지켜주는 사람마저 없을 것이다.
  4. 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘 거리거리에서 신랑 신부의 환성, 기쁘고 즐거워 부르는 노랫소리를 사라지게 하리니, 온 나라는 폐허가 되리라.
 
 
  1. " 'At that time, declares the LORD, the bones of the kings and officials of Judah, the bones of the priests and prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves.
  2. They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens, which they have loved and served and which they have followed and consulted and worshiped. They will not be gathered up or buried, but will be like refuse lying on the ground.
  3. Wherever I banish them, all the survivors of this evil nation will prefer death to life, declares the LORD Almighty.'
  1. 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 그 때가 오면, 사람들은 유다 왕들의 뼈, 고관들의 뼈, 사제들의 뼈, 예언자들의 뼈, 예루살렘 주민들의 뼈를 무덤에서 파헤쳐,
  2. 해와 달과 하늘의 모든 별 아래 드러나게 하리라. 그렇게도 좋아서 섬기고 찾아다니며 물어보고 예배 드리다가 그 아래 드러나고 말리라. 그 뼈들을 거두어 다시 묻어주는 사람조차 없어 쓰레기처럼 땅에 굴러다닐 것이다.
  3. 이 악한 족속 가운데서 살아 남은 것들도 내가 사방으로 쫓아보내리니, 가는 곳곳에서 '이렇게 사느니 차라리 죽어버리자.'고 하게 되리라. 나 만군의 야훼가 하는 말이다.
 
  회개하지 않는 유다(8:4-8:22)    
 
  1. "Say to them, 'This is what the LORD says: " 'When men fall down, do they not get up? When a man turns away, does he not return?
  2. Why then have these people turned away? Why does Jerusalem always turn away? They cling to deceit; they refuse to return.
  3. I have listened attentively, but they do not say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying, "What have I done?" Each pursues his own course like a horse charging into battle.
  4. Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons, and the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the requirements of the LORD.
  5. " 'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?
  1. 야훼의 말이라 하고 너는 이렇게 말하여라. 넘어졌다가 일어나지 않는 사람이 있다더냐? 떠나갔다가 돌아오지 않는 사람이 있다더냐?
  2. 그런데 이 백성은 나를 배반하고 돌아오지 않으려고 버티니, 될 말이냐? 돌아올 듯 돌아올 듯 하면서도 기어이 돌아오지 않는구나.
  3. 아무리 귀를 씻고 들어보아도 당연히 할 말을 하는 놈은 하나도 없다. '내가 어쩌다가 이런 일을 했던가!' 하며 잘못을 뉘우치는 자도 하나 없다. 말이 싸움터로 뛰어나가듯이, 모두들 뛰어나가고 말았다.
  4. 하늘을 나는 고니도 철을 알고 산비둘기나 제비나 두루미도 철따라 돌아오는데, 이 백성 가운데는 내가 세운 법을 아는 자가 하나도 없구나.
  5. 너희 가운데 지혜 있다고 스스로 나설 자 있느냐? 야훼의 법은 우리가 맡았다고 할 자 있느냐? 보아라, 거짓 선비의 붓끝에서 법이 조작되었다.
  1. The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what kind of wisdom do they have?
  2. Therefore I will give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit.
  3. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. "Peace, peace," they say, when there is no peace.
  4. Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says the LORD.
  5. " 'I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine. There will be no figs on the tree, and their leaves will wither. What I have given them will be taken from them. ' "
  1. 이제 그 현자들은 얼굴을 못 들고 벌벌 떨며 사로잡혀 가리라. 잘난 체하여 나의 말을 뿌리치더니, 그 지혜가 어찌 되었느냐?
  2. 나 이제 그들의 여인을 빼앗아 남에게 주고 남이 들어와 밭까지 차지하게 하리라. 위아래 할 것 없이 남을 뜯어먹는 것들, 예언자, 사제 할 것 없이 속임수밖에 모르는 것들,
  3. 내 딸, 내 백성의 상처를 건성으로 치료해 주면서 '괜찮다, 괜찮다.' 하지만 어디가 괜찮으냐!
  4. 그렇듯이 역겨운 짓을 하면서 부끄러운 줄도 모르는, 얼굴에 쇠가죽을 쓴 것들, 창피한 줄이나 알면 괜찮지! 모두들 무더기로 쓰러져 죽으리라. 내가 혼내주러 오는 날 모두들 비틀거리다가 쓰러지리라. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다.
  5. 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 이 백성 가운데 행여나 쓸 만한 자가 있는가 찾아보았지만, 포도 덩굴에 포도 송이 하나 없고 무화과나무에 무화과 열매 하나 없이 잎마저 말라버린 꼴이었다. 그래서 나는 사람들을 시켜 불살라 버리리라."
  1. "Why are we sitting here? Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there! For the LORD our God has doomed us to perish and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against him.
  2. We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there was only terror.
  3. The snorting of the enemy's horses is heard from Dan; at the neighing of their stallions the whole land trembles. They have come to devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who live there."
  4. "See, I will send venomous snakes among you, vipers that cannot be charmed, and they will bite you," declares the LORD.
  5. O my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me.
  1. "왜 이렇게 앉아서 주춤거리고만 있는가? 다 같이 방비된 성에 들어가자. 죽어도 거기에서 죽자. 우리를 죽이는 것은 우리 하느님 야훼시다. 당신께 잘못하였다고 사약을 내리시는 것이겠지.
  2. 잘만 되려니 하고 바랐더니, 좋은 일은 끝내 오지 않는구나. 나아질 때를 기다렸더니, 이 무서운 소식이 웬 말이냐?
  3. 들려온다, 단에서 적군의 말 울음 소리, 빠른 말들이 울어대는 소리에 천지가 흔들린다. 이제 곧 들이닥쳐 온 나라를 통째로 삼키겠구나. 주민을 다 죽이고 성읍들을 잿더미로 만들겠구나."
  4. "나 이제 어떤 땅꾼에게도 홀리지 않는 독사를 보내어 너희를 물게 하리라. 이는 내 말이니, 어김이 없다."
  5. "이 백성은 영영 살아날 길이 막혔습니다. 가슴은 미어지고 마음은 터질 것 같습니다.
  1. Listen to the cry of my people from a land far away: "Is the LORD not in Zion? Is her King no longer there?" "Why have they provoked me to anger with their images, with their worthless foreign idols?"
  2. "The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved."
  3. Since my people are crushed, I am crushed; I mourn, and horror grips me.
  4. Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?
  1. '야훼께서 시온에 안 계시는가? 왕노릇 그만 하시려고 물러나셨는가?' 이렇듯이 내 딸, 내 백성이 신음하는 소리가 전국 방방곡곡에서 들려옵니다." "그런데 어찌하여 아직도 우상을 섬기며 내 속을 썩여주느냐? 어찌하여 남의 나라 허수아비를 들여다가 섬기며 내 속을 썩여주느냐?"
  2. "여름도 지나고 추수도 끝났건만 우리는 이제 살아나갈 길이 없습니다.
  3. 내 딸 내 백성이 치명상을 입었는데 전들 어찌 아프지 않겠습니까? 앞이 캄캄하고 마음은 떨립니다.
  4. 길르앗에 약이 떨어질 리 없고 의사가 없을 리 없는데, 어찌하여 내 딸, 이 백성의 상처를 치료하지 못합니까?
