- Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
- See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.
- See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.
- Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. He could bring about no change of mind, though he sought the blessing with tears.
- You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm;

- 모든 사람과 화평하게 지내며 거룩한 사람이 되도록 힘쓰시오. 거룩해지지 않으면 아무도 주님을 뵙지 못할 것입니다.
- 여러분은 하느님의 은총을 받지 못하는 사람이 하나도 나오지 않도록 조심하십시오. 여러분의 공동체 안에 독초가 생겨나 분란을 일으키고 그것 때문에 많은 사람들이 해를 입는 일이 없도록 하십시오.
- 또 음란한 자나 음식 한 그릇에 장자의 권리를 팔아먹은 에사오 같은 불경스러운 자가 나오지 않도록 하시오.
- 아시다시피 에사오는 그 후에 자기 아버지의 축복을 받으려고 눈물까지 흘리면서 애원했지만 거절을 당하였습니다. 자기가 저질러놓은 일을 돌이킬 길이 없었던 것입니다.
- 여러분이 와 있는 곳은 옛날 이스라엘 사람들이 갔던 그 시나이 산은 아닙니다. 그 산은 손으로 만져볼 수 있고 불이 타오르고 검은 구름과 암흑에 싸인 채 폭풍이 일고

- to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them,
- because they could not bear what was commanded: "If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned."
- The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, "I am trembling with fear."
- But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,
- to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect,

- 나팔 소리가 울리고 굉장한 음성이 들려오는 산이었습니다. 그 때 그 음성을 들은 사람들은 하느님께 더 이상 말씀하지 마시라고 간청하지 않았습니까?
- "비록 짐승이라도 이 산에 닿기만 하면 돌에 맞아 죽을 것이다." 하신 하느님의 명령이 견딜 수 없이 두려웠던 것입니다.
- 사실 그 광경이 얼마나 무서웠던지 모세까지도 "나는 너무나 무서워서 떨린다." 하고 말할 지경이었습니다.
- 그러나 여러분이 와 있는 곳은 시온 산이고 살아 계신 하느님의 도성이며 하늘의 예루살렘입니다. 거기에는 수많은 천사들이 있고, 잔치가 벌어져 있고
- 또 하늘에 등록된 장자들의 교회가 있고 만민의 심판자이신 하느님이 계시고 완전히 올바른 사람들의 영혼이 있습니다.

- to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
- See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?
- At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens."
- The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken--that is, created things--so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
- Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

- 그리고 새로운 계약의 중재자이신 예수가 계시고 아벨의 피보다도 더 큰 힘을 발휘하는 속죄의 피가 있습니다.
- 여러분에게 말씀해 주시는 분을 거역하지 않도록 조심하십시오. 이 세상에 하느님의 말씀을 선포한 이를 거역한 자들도 형벌을 면하지 못했는데 하물며 하늘에서 말씀하시는 분을 우리가 뿌리친다면 그 형벌을 어떻게 면할 수 있겠습니까?
- 그 때에는 그분의 음성이 땅을 뒤흔들었지만 이번에는 "나는 한 번 더 내 음성으로 세상을 뒤흔들겠다. 이번에는 땅뿐 아니라 하늘까지도 뒤흔들겠다." 하고 다짐하셨습니다.
- 이 "한 번 더"라는 말은 피조물들을 흔들어서 없애버린다는 것을 뜻하며, 따라서 흔들리지 않는 것은 그대로 남아 있게 하겠다는 뜻입니다.
- 우리는 흔들리지 않는 나라를 차지했으니 감사를 드립시다. 그리고 하느님께서 기뻐하시도록 경건한 마음과 두려워하는 마음으로 하느님께 예배를 드립시다.
