다니엘 2:1-2:49

 느부갓네살 왕은 꿈을 꾸고 술객들을 불러 자신의 꿈을 해석하게 하였다. 그러나 그들이 꿈을 해석하지 못하자 왕은 바벨론의 모든 박사들을 죽이려 했다. 이 위급한 상황을 알게 된 다니엘은 친구들과 합심으로 기도하여 하나님께로부터 꿈의 내용과 그 해석을 계시받고 왕에게 그것을 진술하였다. 이에 왕은 하나님을 찬양하고 다니엘에게 선물과 높은 관직을 주었다.
  
  느부갓네살의 첫번째 꿈(2:1-2:49)    
 
  1. In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep.
  2. So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king,
  3. he said to them, "I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means. "
  4. Then the astrologers answered the king in Aramaic, "O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will interpret it."
  5. The king replied to the astrologers, "This is what I have firmly decided: If you do not tell me what my dream was and interpret it, I will have you cut into pieces and your houses turned into piles of rubble.
  1. 느부갓네살왕은 왕위에 오른 지 2년째가 되는 해에 꿈을 꾸고 그것으로 번민하여 잠을 이루지 못하였다.
  2. 그래서 왕은 자기 꿈을 해몽할 점장이와 마법사와 무당과 점성가를 불러오게 하였다. 그들이 들어와서 왕 앞에 섰을 때
  3. 왕은 이상한 꿈을 꾸고 그 뜻을 알고자 번민하고 있다고 그들에게 말하였다.
  4. 그러자 점성가들이 아람 말로 왕에게 이렇게 말하였다. '대왕이시여, 아무쪼록 오래오래 사십시오. 그 꿈이 무엇인지 말씀해 주시면 우리가 해몽해 드리겠습니다.'
  5. '내 명령이다. 너희는 내가 꾼 꿈을 말하고 해몽하라. 그렇지 않으면 내가 너희 몸을 갈기갈기 찢고 너희 집을 잿더미로 만들어 버릴 것이다.
  1. But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So tell me the dream and interpret it for me."
  2. Once more they replied, "Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will interpret it."
  3. Then the king answered, "I am certain that you are trying to gain time, because you realize that this is what I have firmly decided:
  4. If you do not tell me the dream, there is just one penalty for you. You have conspired to tell me misleading and wicked things, hoping the situation will change. So then, tell me the dream, and I will know that you can interpret it for me."
  5. The astrologers answered the king, "There is not a man on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer.
  1. 그러나 만일 너희가 그 꿈을 나에게 말하고 해몽하면 내가 너희에게 많은 선물과 상을 주고 큰 영예를 주겠다. 그러니 내 꿈과 뜻을 말하라.'
  2. '대왕께서 그 꿈을 먼저 말씀해 주십시오. 그러면 우리가 해몽해 드리겠습니다.'
  3. '너희는 내 명령이 취소될 수 없음을 알고 시간을 벌려는 속셈이 분명하다.
  4. 너희가 내 꿈을 말하지 않으면 내가 어차피 너희를 처벌할 수밖에 없다. 너희는 내 앞에서 못된 거짓말을 꾸며 말하기로 합의하고 때가 바뀌기를 기다리고 있다. 이제 너희는 그 꿈을 나에게 말하라. 그러면 너희가 그 꿈을 해몽할 수 있다는 것을 내가 알게 될 것이다.'
  5. 이 세상에는 대왕께서 알고자 하시는 일을 말할 사람이 하나도 없습니다. 세상의 그 어떤 왕이나 통치자도 점장이나 마법사나 점성가에게 이런 것을 물어본 적은 없습니다.
  1. What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among men."
  2. This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon.
  3. So the decree was issued to put the wise men to death, and men were sent to look for Daniel and his friends to put them to death.
  4. When Arioch, the commander of the king's guard, had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon, Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact.
  5. He asked the king's officer, "Why did the king issue such a harsh decree?" Arioch then explained the matter to Daniel.
  1. 대왕께서 물으신 것은 너무 어려워서 신이 아니면 그것을 왕께 말할 자가 아무도 없으며 또 그런 신은 사람들 가운데 살지도 않습니다.'
  2. 이 말을 듣고 왕은 몹시 화를 내며 바빌론의 박사들을 모조리 죽이라고 명령하였다.
  3. 박사들을 죽이라는 왕의 명령이 떨어지자 궁중에서는 다니엘과 그의 친구들도 찾고 있었다.
  4. 왕의 경호대장 아리옥이 바빌론의 박사들을 죽이려고 나갈 때 다니엘이 그에게 가서 아주 지혜로운 말로
  5. 왕이 어째서 그처럼 가혹한 명령을 내렸는지 묻자 아리옥이 다니엘에게 일어난 일을 설명해 주었다.
  1. At this, Daniel went in to the king and asked for time, so that he might interpret the dream for him.
  2. Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
  3. He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
  4. During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven
  5. and said: "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.
  1. 그래서 다니엘은 즉시 왕에게 가서 꿈을 해몽할 수 있도록 얼마간의 시간을 달라고 요청하였다.
  2. 그리고서 다니엘은 자기 집으로 돌아가 자기 친구 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴에게 그 일을 설명하고
  3. 그들이 바빌론에 있는 다른 박사들과 함께 죽임을 당하지 않도록 하늘의 하나님께 자비를 구하고 이 비밀을 알게 해 달라고 기도하자고 하였다.
  4. 그런데 그 날 밤 환상 가운데 그 비밀이 다니엘에게 나타났다. 그래서 다니엘은 하나님께 이렇게 찬양하였다.
  5. 하나님에게 지혜와 능력이 있으니 그의 이름을 영원히 찬양하라.
  1. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
  2. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
  3. I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king."
  4. Then Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to execute the wise men of Babylon, and said to him, "Do not execute the wise men of Babylon. Take me to the king, and I will interpret his dream for him."
  5. Arioch took Daniel to the king at once and said, "I have found a man among the exiles from Judah who can tell the king what his dream means."
  1. 그는 때와 시대를 바꾸시며 왕을 세우고 폐하시며 지혜로운 자에게 지혜를 주시고 총명한 자에게 지식을 주시는 분이시다.
  2. 그는 깊고 은밀한 일을 드러내시며 어둠 속에 감추어진 것을 아시고 빛 가운데 계신다.
  3. 내 조상들의 하나님이시여, 내가 주께 감사하고 주를 찬양합니다. 주께서는 나에게 지혜와 능력을 주시고 우리의 기도에 응답하셔서 왕의 꿈에 대한 비밀을 알게 하셨습니다.'
  4. 그리고서 다니엘은 바빌론의 박사들을 처형하라는 왕의 명령을 받은 아리옥에게 가서 이렇게 말하였다. '바빌론의 박사들을 죽이지 말고 나를 왕에게 데려가 주십시오. 그러면 내가 그 꿈을 왕에게 해몽해 드리겠습니다.'
  5. 그러자 아리옥은 즉시 다니엘을 데리고 느부갓네살왕 앞에 가서 '제가 유다 포로 가운데 왕의 꿈을 해몽할 사람을 찾아냈습니다.' 하였다.
  1. The king asked Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), "Are you able to tell me what I saw in my dream and interpret it?"
  2. Daniel replied, "No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about,
  3. but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come. Your dream and the visions that passed through your mind as you lay on your bed are these:
  4. "As you were lying there, O king, your mind turned to things to come, and the revealer of mysteries showed you what is going to happen.
  5. As for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I have greater wisdom than other living men, but so that you, O king, may know the interpretation and that you may understand what went through your mind.
  1. 그때 왕이 벨드사살이라는 다니엘에게 '내가 꿈에 본 것을 네가 말하고 해몽할 수 있겠느냐?' 하고 물었다.
  2. 그래서 다니엘은 이렇게 대답하였다. '그 어떤 점장이와 마법사와 무당과 점성가도 대왕께서 물으신 신비스러운 일을 설명할 수가 없습니다.
  3. 그러나 그 비밀을 밝힐 수 있는 하나님이 하늘에 계십니다. 그분이 앞으로 일어날 일을 왕에게 보여 주셨습니다. 지금부터 제가 왕의 꿈을 말씀드리겠습니다.
  4. 대왕께서 잠자리에 누워 장래 일을 생각하실 때에 비밀을 알게 하시는 하나님이 장차 일어날 일을 왕에게 보여 주셨습니다.
  5. 하나님이 나에게 이 비밀을 알게 하신 것은 내가 다른 사람들보다 더 지혜롭기 때문이 아니라 대왕께 그 꿈의 뜻을 알려서 마음에 생각하시던 일을 이해할 수 있도록 하기 위해서입니다.
  1. "You looked, O king, and there before you stood a large statue--an enormous, dazzling statue, awesome in appearance.
  2. The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze,
  3. its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay.
  4. While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them.
  5. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.
  1. 왕이시여, 대왕께서는 사람 모양의 거대한 신상을 보셨습니다. 그 신상은 크고 번쩍번쩍 광채가 나며 그 모양이 무섭게 생겼는데
  2. 그 머리는 순금이고 가슴과 팔은 은이며 배와 넓적다리는 놋이요
  3. 다리는 철이었습니다. 그리고 그 발은 일부분이 철이며 일부분은 진흙으로 되어 있었습니다.
  4. 대왕께서 그 신상을 보고 계실 때 사람이 손도 대지 않았는데 산에서 큰 돌 하나가 날아와 철과 진흙으로 된 발을 쳐서 부숴 버렸습니다.
  5. 그러자 철과 진흙과 놋과 은과 금이 일시에 다 부서져서 여름철 타작 마당의 겨와 같이 되어 바람에 다 날아가버리고 흔적조차 없어졌으며 그 신상을 친 돌은 하나의 큰 산이 되어 온 세상을 가득 채웠습니다.
  1. "This was the dream, and now we will interpret it to the king.
  2. You, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory;
  3. in your hands he has placed mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. Wherever they live, he has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.
  4. "After you, another kingdom will rise, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule over the whole earth.
  5. Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron--for iron breaks and smashes everything--and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others.
  1. 지금까지 제가 그 꿈을 말씀드렸는데 이제부터 그것을 해몽해 드리겠습니다.
  2. 왕이시여, 대왕께서는 세상의 모든 왕들 중에서도 가장 위대한 왕이십니다. 이것은 하늘의 하나님이 왕에게 나라와 권세와 능력과 영광을 주셨기 때문입니다.
  3. 하나님이 왕에게 온 세상 사람들과 심지어 들짐승과 공중의 새들까지 다스리게 하셨으므로 그 신상의 금 머리는 바로 왕이십니다.
  4. 왕의 다음에는 왕의 나라보다 못한 다른 한 나라가 일어날 것이며 그 다음 세 번째에는 놋과 같은 나라가 일어나서 온 세계를 다스릴 것입니다.
  5. 그리고 마지막으로 네 번째 일어날 나라는 철처럼 강력한 나라가 될 것입니다. 철이 다른 모든 물건을 부수고 박살내듯이 그 나라가 세상의 모든 나라를 쳐서 부숴 버릴 것입니다.
  1. Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay.
  2. As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle.
  3. And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.
  4. "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.
  5. This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands--a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces. "The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and the interpretation is trustworthy."
  1. 대왕께서는 그 발과 발가락이 일부는 진흙으로 되었고 또 일부는 철로 된 것을 보셨는데 이것은 그 나라가 나누어질 것을 뜻합니다. 그러나 대왕께서 보신 대로 거기에는 철과 진흙이 섞여 있었으므로 그 나라에는 철처럼 강한 점도 있을 것입니다.
  2. 그 발가락이 일부는 철이요 일부는 진흙으로 되었다는 것은 그 나라의 일부는 강하고 일부는 약한 것을 뜻하며
  3. 또 이것은 사람들이 서로 다른 인종과 섞일 것이나 철이 진흙과 합해지지 않는 것처럼 그들이 하나로 결속되지 못할 것을 뜻합니다.
  4. 그리고 여러 왕들이 나라를 통치하는 시대에 하늘의 하나님이 영원히 멸망하지 않을 한 나라를 세우실 것입니다. 그 나라는 결코 정복 당하지 않을 것이며 세상의 모든 나라를 쳐서 멸망시키고 영원히 존속할 것입니다.
  5. 대왕께서는 사람이 손도 대지 않았는데 산에서 떨어진 돌이 날아와 철과 놋과 진흙과 은과 금을 쳐서 부수뜨린 것을 보셨습니다. 이것은 크신 하나님이 장차 일어날 일을 왕에게 보여 주신 것입니다. 제가 왕에게 말씀드린 꿈과 해몽은 확실하고 믿을 만합니다.'
  1. Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him.
  2. The king said to Daniel, "Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery."
  3. Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men.
  4. Moreover, at Daniel's request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court.
  1. 그러자 느부갓네살왕은 엎드려 다니엘에게 경배하고 그에게 예물과 향품을 갖다 바치라고 신하들에게 명령하였다.
  2. 그리고 왕은 다니엘에게 이렇게 말하였다. '네가 이 비밀을 밝혀내는 것을 보니 참으로 너희 하나님은 모든 신들의 신이시며 모든 왕들의 주가 되시고 비밀을 밝혀내는 분이시구나.'
  3. 그리고서 왕은 다니엘에게 많은 선물을 주고 그를 높은 지위에 앉혀 바빌론도를 다스리게 하였으며 또 박사들을 관리하게 하였다.
  4. 그리고 다니엘의 요구에 따라 왕은 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 세워 바빌론도의 모든 업무를 감독하게 하였다. 그러나 다니엘은 왕궁에 머물러 있었다.
