마태복음 21:12-21:32

 예수께서 성전을 청결하시고 어린아이들의 찬미를 받으셨다. 다음날 아침, 예수께서 성에 들어오시는 길에 무화과나무에서 열매를 얻지 못하시자 나무를 저주하셨다. 예수님의 권위에 대해 묻는 대제사장과 장로들의 질문에, 예수님은 대답하는 대신 두 아들의 비유를 통해서 그들의 믿음 없음을 책망하셨다.
  
  성전 청결(21:12-21:22)    
 
  1. 예수께서 성전에 들어가셔서, 성전 뜰에서 팔고 사고 하는 사람들을 다 내쫓으시고, 돈을 바꾸어 주는 사람들의 상과 비둘기를 파는 사람들의 의자를 둘러엎으시고,
  2. 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "성경에 기록한 바, '내 집은 기도하는 집이라고 불릴 것이다' 하였다. 그런데 너희는 그것을 '강도들의 소굴'로 만들어 버렸다."
  3. 성전 뜰에서 눈 먼 사람들과 다리를 저는 사람들이 예수께 다가왔다. 예수께서는 그들을 고쳐 주셨다.
  4. 그러나 대제사장들과 율법학자들은, 예수께서 하신 여러 가지 놀라운 일과, 또 성전 뜰에서 "다윗의 자손에게 호산나!" 하고 외치는 아이들을 보고, 화가 나서
  5. 예수께 말하였다. "당신은 아이들이 무어라 하는지 듣고 있소?" 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "그렇다. '주님께서는 어린 아이들과 젖먹이들의 입에서 찬양이 나오게 하셨다' 하신 말씀을, 너희는 읽어보지 못하였느냐?"
  1. Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
  2. "It is written," he said to them, " 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a 'den of robbers.'"
  3. The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.
  4. But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant.
  5. "Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read, " 'From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise'?"
  1. 예수께서 그들을 남겨 두고, 성 밖으로 나가, 베다니로 가셔서, 거기에서 밤을 지내셨다.
  2. 새벽에 성 안으로 들어오시는데, 예수께서는 시장하셨다.
  3. 마침 길 가에 있는 무화과나무 한 그루를 보시고, 그 나무로 가셨으나, 잎사귀 밖에는 아무것도 없으므로, 그 나무에게 말씀하셨다. "이제부터 너는 영원히 열매를 맺지 못할 것이다!" 그러자 무화과나무가 곧 말라 버렸다.
  4. 제자들은 이것을 보고 놀라서 말하였다. "무화과나무가 어떻게 그렇게 당장 말라버렸을까?"
  5. 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 너희가 믿고 의심하지 않으면, 이 무화과나무에 한 일을 너희도 할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 이 산더러 '들려서 바다에 빠져라' 하고 말해도, 그렇게 될 것이다.
  1. And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.
  2. Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry.
  3. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.
  4. When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. "How did the fig tree wither so quickly?" they asked.
  5. Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done.
  1. 또 너희가 기도할 때에, 이루어질 것을 믿으면서 구하는 것은, 무엇이든지 다 받을 것이다."
  1. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."
 
  두 아들의 비유(21:23-21:32)    
 
  1. 예수께서 성전에 들어가서 가르치고 계실 때에, 대제사장들과 백성의 장로들이 다가와서 말하였다. "당신은 무슨 권한으로 이런 일을 하시오? 누가 당신에게 이런 권한을 주었소?"
  2. 예수께서 그들에게 이렇게 대답하셨다. "나도 너희에게 한 가지를 물어 보겠다. 너희가 대답하면, 나도 무슨 권한으로 이런 일을 하는지를 말하겠다.
  3. 요한의 세례가 어디에서 왔느냐? 하늘에서냐? 사람에게서냐?" 그러자 그들은 자기들끼리 의논하며 말하였다. "'하늘에서 왔다'고 말하면, '어째서 그를 믿지 않았느냐'고 할 것이요,
  4. 또 '사람에게서 왔다'고 하자니, 무리가 무섭소. 그들은 모두 요한을 예언자로 여기니 말이오."
  5. 그래서 그들은 예수께, 모르겠다고 대답하였다. 그러자 예수께서 말씀하셨다. "나도 내가 무슨 권한으로 이런 일을 하는지를 너희에게 말하지 않겠다."
  1. Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you this authority?"
  2. Jesus replied, "I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
  3. John's baptism--where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or from men?" They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'
  4. But if we say, 'From men'--we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet."
  5. So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Then he said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
  1. "너희는 어떻게 생각하느냐? 어떤 사람에게 아들이 둘 있는데, 아버지가 맏아들에게 가서 '얘야, 너 오늘 포도원에 가서 일해라' 하고 말하였다.
  2. 그런데 맏아들은 대답하기를 '싫습니다' 하고 말하였다. 그러나 그 뒤에 그는 뉘우치고 일하러 갔다.
  3. 아버지는 둘째 아들에게 가서, 같은 말을 하였다. 그는 대답하기를, '예, 가겠습니다, 아버지' 하고서는, 가지 않았다.
  4. 그런데 이 둘 가운데서 누가 아버지의 뜻을 행하였느냐?" 예수께서 이렇게 물으시니, 그들이 대답하였다. "맏아들입니다." 예수께서 그들에게 말씀을 하셨다. "내가 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 세리와 창녀들이 오히려 너희보다 먼저 하나님의 나라에 들어간다.
  5. 요한이 너희에게 와서, 옳은 길을 보여 주었으나, 너희는 그를 믿지 않았다. 그러나 세리와 창녀들은 믿었다. 너희는 그것을 보고도 끝내 뉘우치지 않았으며, 그를 믿지 않았다."
  1. "What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work today in the vineyard.'
  2. " 'I will not,' he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.
  3. "Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, 'I will, sir,' but he did not go.
  4. "Which of the two did what his father wanted?" "The first," they answered. Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.
  5. For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
