예레미야 19:1-21:14

 하나님께서는 오지병을 깨뜨리는 비유를 통해 하나님의 훈계와 교훈을 멸시한 유다의 파멸이 확정적임을 보여 주셨다. 예레미야가 성전에 올라가 이러한 심판의 메시지를 선포하자 성전의 책임자였던 바스훌이 그를 핍박하였다. 이에 예레미야는 자신의 심정을 하나님께 토로하며 탄식하였다. 그 후 바벨론이 침입하여 위기에 처하자 시드기야 왕은 예레미야에게 기도를 부탁했지만, 예레미야는 바벨론에게 항복할 것을 권유하였다.
  
  심판 선포(19:1-19:15)    
 
  1. 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 토기장이를 찾아가서 항아리를 하나 산 다음에, 백성을 대표하는 장로 몇 사람과 나이든 제사장 몇 사람을 데리고,
  2. '하시드 문' 어귀 곁에 있는 '힌놈의 아들 골짜기'로 나아가서, 내가 너에게 일러주는 말을 거기에서 선포하여라.
  3. 너는 이렇게 말하여라. '너희 유다 왕들과 예루살렘 모든 주민아, 너희는 나 주의 말을 들어라. 나 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 말한다. 내가 이 곳에 재앙을 내릴 터이니, 이 재앙은 그 소식을 듣는 모든 사람의 귀가 얼얼해질 만큼 무서운 재앙이 될 것이다.
  4. 이것은, 그들이 나를 저버리고 이 곳을 남의 나라처럼 만들어 놓고, 그들 자신뿐만 아니라 그들의 조상이나 유다 왕들도 전혀 알지 못하던 다른 신들에게 분향하고, 이 곳을 죄 없는 사람들의 피로 가득 채워 놓았기 때문이다.
  5. 그리고 그들은 제 자식들을 바알에게 번제물로 불살라 바치려고, 바알의 산당들을 세움으로써, 내가 그들에게 명한 적도 없고, 말한 적도 없는, 내가 상상조차도 하여 본 적이 없는 죄를 저질렀기 때문이다.
  1. This is what the LORD says: "Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take along some of the elders of the people and of the priests
  2. and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom, near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There proclaim the words I tell you,
  3. and say, 'Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Listen! I am going to bring a disaster on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle.
  4. For they have forsaken me and made this a place of foreign gods; they have burned sacrifices in it to gods that neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.
  5. They have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as offerings to Baal--something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind.
  1. 그러므로 보아라, 그날이 오면, 다시는 '도벳'이나 '힌놈의 아들 골짜기'라고 부르지 않고, 오히려 '살육의 골짜기'라고 부를 것이다. 나 주의 말이다.
  2. 내가 이 곳에서 유다와 예루살렘의 계획을 좌절시키고, 그들이 전쟁할 때에 원수들의 칼에 찔려 죽게 하고, 그들의 목숨을 노리는 사람들의 손에 죽게 하고, 그들의 시체는 공중의 새와 들짐승의 먹이가 되게 하겠다.
  3. 내가 이렇게 이 도성을 폐허로 만들 것이며, 비웃음거리가 되게 하겠다. 그러면 이 도성을 지나가는 사람마다, 이 곳에 내린 모든 재앙을 보고 놀라며, 비웃을 것이다.
  4. 그리고 그들은 목숨을 노리는 원수에게 포위되어 곤경에 빠지면, 그들은 제 자식들을 잡아먹고, 이웃끼리도 서로 잡아먹을 것이다.'
  5. 이렇게 말하고 나서 너는 데리고 간 사람들이 보는 앞에서 그 항아리를 깨뜨리고,
  1. So beware, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when people will no longer call this place Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
  2. " 'In this place I will ruin the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies, at the hands of those who seek their lives, and I will give their carcasses as food to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth.
  3. I will devastate this city and make it an object of scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff because of all its wounds.
  4. I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh during the stress of the siege imposed on them by the enemies who seek their lives.'
  5. "Then break the jar while those who go with you are watching,
  1. 그들에게 이렇게 전하여라. '만군의 주가 말한다. 토기 그릇은 한번 깨지면 다시 원상태로 쓸 수 없다. 나도 이 백성과 이 도성을 토기 그릇처럼 깨뜨려 버리겠다. 그러면 더 이상 시체를 묻을 자리가 없어서, 사람들이 도벳에까지 시체를 묻을 것이다.
  2. 내가 이 곳과 여기에 사는 주민을 이처럼 만들어 놓겠다. 반드시 이 도성을 도벳처럼 만들어 놓겠다. 나 주의 말이다.
  3. 예루살렘의 집들과 유다 왕궁들이 모두 도벳의 터처럼 불결하게 될 것이다. 이는 집집마다 사람들이 지붕 위에서 온갖 천체에게 향을 피워 올리고, 이방 신들에게 술을 부어 제물로 바쳤기 때문이다.'"
  4. 예레미야는, 주님께서 예언하라고 보내신 도벳에서 돌아와, 주님의 성전 뜰에 서서, 모든 백성에게 말하였다.
  5. "나 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 말한다. 이 백성이 고집을 부려, 나의 말에 순종하지 않았으므로, 이제 내가 이미 선포한 그 모든 재앙을, 이 도성과 거기에 딸린 모든 성읍 위에 내리겠다."
  1. and say to them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: I will smash this nation and this city just as this potter's jar is smashed and cannot be repaired. They will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.
  2. This is what I will do to this place and to those who live here, declares the LORD. I will make this city like Topheth.
  3. The houses in Jerusalem and those of the kings of Judah will be defiled like this place, Topheth--all the houses where they burned incense on the roofs to all the starry hosts and poured out drink offerings to other gods.' "
  4. Jeremiah then returned from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy, and stood in the court of the LORD's temple and said to all the people,
  5. "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'Listen! I am going to bring on this city and the villages around it every disaster I pronounced against them, because they were stiff-necked and would not listen to my words.' "
 
  핍박받는 예레미야(20:1-20:18)    
 
  1. 임멜의 아들로서, 제사장이면서 주님의 성전에서 총감독으로 일하는 바스훌이, 이렇게 예언하는 예레미야의 모든 말을 듣고서,
  2. 예언자 예레미야를 때리고, 그에게 차꼬를 채워서 주님의 성전 위쪽 '베냐민 대문' 근처에다가 가두었다.
  3. 다음날 아침에 바스훌이 예레미야의 차꼬를 풀어 줄 때에, 예레미야가 그에게 이렇게 말하였다. "주님께서 이제는 당신의 이름을 바스훌이라 부르시지 않고, 마골밋사빕이라고 부르실 것이오.
  4. 당신을 두고, 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨소. '내가 너를 너와 네 모든 친구에게 두려움이 되게 할 것이니, 너는 네 친구들이 원수의 칼에 찔려 쓰러지는 것을 네 눈으로 직접 볼 것이다. 또 내가 유다 백성을 모두 바빌로니아 왕의 손에 넘겨 주면, 그 왕은 백성을 더러는 바빌로니아로 사로잡아 가고, 더러는 칼로 죽일 것이다.
  5. 또 내가 이 도성의 모든 재물과 그 모든 재산과 그 모든 귀중품과 유다 왕들의 모든 보물을 원수의 손에 넘겨 주어서, 그들이 모두 약탈하고 탈취하여, 바빌로니아로 가져 가게 하겠다.
  1. When the priest Pashhur son of Immer, the chief officer in the temple of the LORD, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things,
  2. he had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put in the stocks at the Upper Gate of Benjamin at the LORD's temple.
  3. The next day, when Pashhur released him from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, "The LORD's name for you is not Pashhur, but Magor-Missabib.
  4. For this is what the LORD says: 'I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; with your own eyes you will see them fall by the sword of their enemies. I will hand all Judah over to the king of Babylon, who will carry them away to Babylon or put them to the sword.
  5. I will hand over to their enemies all the wealth of this city--all its products, all its valuables and all the treasures of the kings of Judah. They will take it away as plunder and carry it off to Babylon.
  1. 그리고 바스훌아, 너와 네 집에 사는 모든 사람은 포로가 되어서, 바빌로니아로 끌려갈 것이니, 너는 네 거짓 예언을 들은 네 모든 친구와 함께 거기에서 죽어, 그 곳에 묻힐 것이다.'"
  2. 주님, 주님께서 나를 속이셨으므로, 내가 주님께 속았습니다. 주님께서는 나보다 더 강하셔서 나를 이기셨으므로, 내가 조롱거리가 되니, 사람들이 날마다 나를 조롱합니다.

  5. 수많은 사람이 수군거리는 소리를 나는 들었습니다. '예레미야가 겁에 질려 있다. 너희는 그를 고발하여라. 우리도 그를 고발하겠다' 합니다. 나와 친하던 사람들도 모두 내가 넘어지기만을 기다립니다. '혹시 그가 실수를 하기라도 하면, 우리가 그를 덮치고 그에게 보복을 하자' 합니다.
  1. And you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house will go into exile to Babylon. There you will die and be buried, you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied lies.' "
  2. O LORD, you deceived me, and I was deceived ; you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me.
  3. Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction. So the word of the LORD has brought me insult and reproach all day long.
  4. But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
  5. I hear many whispering, "Terror on every side! Report him! Let's report him!" All my friends are waiting for me to slip, saying, "Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him."
  1. 그러나 주님, 주님은 내 옆에 계시는 힘센 용사이십니다. 그러므로 나를 박해하는 사람들이, 힘도 쓰지 못하고 쓰러질 것입니다. 이처럼 그들이 실패해서, 그들은 영원히 잊지 못할 큰 수치를 당할 것입니다.
  2. 만군의 주님, 주님은 의로운 사람을 시험하시고, 생각과 마음을 감찰하시는 분이십니다. 내 억울한 사정을 주님께 아뢰었으니, 주님께서 그들에게 내 원수를 갚아 주십시오. 내가 그것을 보기를 원합니다.
  3. "주님께 노래하여라! 주님을 찬양하여라! 주님께서는 억압받는 사람들을 악인들의 권세에서 건져 주신다."
  4. 내가 태어난 날이 저주를 받았어야 했는데. 어머니가 나를 낳은 날이 복된 날이 되지 말았어야 했는데.
  5. 나의 아버지에게 '아들입니다, 아들!' 하고 소식을 전하여, 아버지를 기쁘게 한 그 사람도 저주를 받았어야 했는데.
  1. But the LORD is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten.
  2. O LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you I have committed my cause.
  3. Sing to the LORD! Give praise to the LORD! He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked.
  4. Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me not be blessed!
  5. Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, who made him very glad, saying, "A child is born to you--a son!"
  1. 바로 그 사람은 주님께서 사정없이 뒤엎어 놓으신 성읍들처럼 되어서, 아침에는 울부짖는 고통 소리를 듣고, 대낮에는 전쟁의 함성을 들었어야 했는데.
  2. 내가 모태에서 죽어, 어머니가 나의 무덤이 되었어야 했는데, 내가 영원히 모태 속에 있었어야 했는데.
  3. 어찌하여 이 몸이 모태에서 나와서, 이처럼 고난과 고통을 겪고, 나의 생애를 마치는 날까지 이러한 수모를 받는가!
  1. May that man be like the towns the LORD overthrew without pity. May he hear wailing in the morning, a battle cry at noon.
  2. For he did not kill me in the womb, with my mother as my grave, her womb enlarged forever.
  3. Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?
 
  멸망당할 유다(21:1-21:14)    
 
  1. 시드기야 왕이 말기야의 아들 바스훌과 마아세야의 아들 스바냐 제사장을 예레미야에게 보냈을 때에, 주님께서 그들에게 전할 말씀을 예레미야에게 주셨다.
  2. 그 때에 그들이 와서 이렇게 말하였다. "제발 우리가 멸망하지 않도록 주님께 간절히 기도하여 주십시오. 바빌로니아 왕 느부갓네살이 우리를 포위하여 공격하고 있습니다. 행여 주님께서, 예전에 많은 기적을 베푸신 것처럼, 우리에게도 기적을 베풀어 주시면, 느부갓네살이 우리에게서 물러갈 것입니다."
  3. 예레미야가 그들에게 대답하였다. "시드기야 왕에게 가서 이렇게 전하시오.
  4. '주 이스라엘의 하나님이 말한다. 너희는, 지금 성벽을 에워싸고 공격하는 바빌로니아 왕과 갈대아 군대에게 맞서서 싸우려고 무장을 하고 있으나, 내가, 너희가 가지고 있는 모든 전쟁무기를 회수하여, 이 도성 한가운데 모아 놓겠다.
  5. 내가 직접 너희를 공격하겠다. 이 분노, 이 노여움, 이 울화를 참을 수가 없어서, 내가 팔을 들고, 나의 손과 강한 팔로 너희를 치고,
  1. The word came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur son of Malkijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah. They said:
  2. "Inquire now of the LORD for us because Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is attacking us. Perhaps the LORD will perform wonders for us as in times past so that he will withdraw from us."
  3. But Jeremiah answered them, "Tell Zedekiah,
  4. 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I am about to turn against you the weapons of war that are in your hands, which you are using to fight the king of Babylon and the Babylonians who are outside the wall besieging you. And I will gather them inside this city.
  5. I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm in anger and fury and great wrath.
  1. 사람이나 짐승을 가리지 않고, 이 도성에 사는 모든 것을 칠 것이니, 그들이 무서운 염병에 걸려 몰살할 것이다.
  2. 나 주의 말이다. 그런 다음에, 염병과 전쟁과 기근에서 살아 남은 이 도성의 사람들, 곧 유다 왕 시드기야와 그의 신하들과 백성을, 바빌로니아 왕 느부갓네살의 손과, 그들의 원수들의 손과, 그들의 목숨을 노리는 사람들의 손에, 포로로 넘겨 주겠다. 느부갓네살은 포로를 조금도 가련하게 여기지 않고, 조금도 아끼지 않고, 무자비하게 칼로 쳐죽일 것이다.'"
  3. "너는 이 백성에게 이렇게 전하여라. '나 주가 말한다. 내가 너희 앞에 생명의 길과 죽음의 길을 둔다.
  4. 이 도성 안에 머물러 있는 사람은 전쟁이나 기근이나 염병으로 죽을 것이다. 그러나 지금 너희를 에워싸고 있는 바빌로니아 군대에게 나아가서 항복하는 사람은, 죽지 않을 것이다. 그 사람은 적어도 자신의 목숨만은 건질 것이다.
  5. 나는 복을 내리려고 해서가 아니라, 재앙을 내리려고 이 도성을 마주 보고 있는 것이다. 이 도성은 바빌로니아 왕의 손에 들어갈 것이고, 그는 이 도성을 불질러 버릴 것이다. 나 주의 말이다.'"
  1. I will strike down those who live in this city--both men and animals--and they will die of a terrible plague.
  2. After that, declares the LORD, I will hand over Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the people in this city who survive the plague, sword and famine, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who seek their lives. He will put them to the sword; he will show them no mercy or pity or compassion.'
  3. "Furthermore, tell the people, 'This is what the LORD says: See, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death.
  4. Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live; he will escape with his life.
  5. I have determined to do this city harm and not good, declares the LORD. It will be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will destroy it with fire.'
  1. "이제 유다 왕실에 말한다. 너희는 나 주의 말을 들어라.
  2. 다윗의 왕가는 들어라. 나 주가 말한다. 아침마다 공의로운 판결을 내려라. 너희는 고통받는 사람들을 구하여 주어라. 억압하는 자들의 손에서 그들을 건져 주어라. 그렇지 않으면, 그들의 악행 때문에 나의 분노가 불처럼 일어나서 불탈 것이니, 아무도 끌 수 없을 것이다."
  3. "골짜기로 둘러싸인 우뚝 솟은 바위 산에서 사는 자들아 '우리를 습격할 자가 누구며, 우리가 숨은 곳에까지 쳐들어올 자가 누구냐?' 한다마는, 이제 내가 너희를 치겠다. 나 주의 말이다."
  4. "나는 너희의 행실에 따라 너희를 벌하겠다. 나 주의 말이다. 내가 바로 예루살렘의 숲에 불을 질러, 그 주변까지 다 태워 버리겠다."
  1. "Moreover, say to the royal house of Judah, 'Hear the word of the LORD;
  2. O house of David, this is what the LORD says: " 'Administer justice every morning; rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire because of the evil you have done-- burn with no one to quench it.
  3. I am against you, Jerusalem, you who live above this valley on the rocky plateau, declares the LORD-- you who say, "Who can come against us? Who can enter our refuge?"
  4. I will punish you as your deeds deserve, declares the LORD. I will kindle a fire in your forests that will consume everything around you.' "
