사사기 15:1-16:31

 아내를 빼앗긴 삼손은 매우 분노하여 블레셋 사람의 농작물을 불태우고 나귀의 턱뼈로 일천 명을 죽였다. 그 후 삼손은 들릴라를 사랑하게 되었지만 그녀의 꾐에 빠져 자신의 힘의 비밀을 발설하였고, 결국 블레셋인들에게 잡혀 곤욕을 당했다. 블레셋 신전에서 조롱당하던 삼손은 하나님께 간구하여 신전 기둥을 무너뜨림으로써 많은 블레셋 사람들을 죽이고 자신도 최후를 맞았다.
  
  삼손의 보복(15:1-15:20)    
 
  1. 이런 일이 있은 지 얼마 뒤에 밀 추수 때가 되었을 때에, 삼손은 새끼 염소 한 마리를 가지고 아내를 찾아가서, 장인에게 아내의 침실로 들어가게 해 달라고 부탁하였으나, 장인은 그가 아내 방에 들어가는 것을 허락하지 않았다.
  2. 그리고 장인은 다른 제안을 하였다. "나는 자네가 그 애를 몹시 미워한다고 생각하고, 자네 친구에게 아내로 주었다네. 사실은 동생이 언니보다 더 예쁘니, 부디 그 애를 아내로 삼아 주게."
  3. 그러자 삼손이 그들에게 "이번만은 내가 블레셋 사람들에게 어떤 손해를 끼친다 해도 나를 나무라지 못할 것이오" 하고 말하면서,
  4. 나가서 여우 삼백 마리를 잡아, 꼬리에 꼬리를 서로 비끄러매고는, 그 두 꼬리 사이에 가지고 간 홰를 하나씩 매달았다.
  5. 그는 그 홰에 불을 붙여 블레셋 사람의 곡식 밭으로 여우를 내몰아서, 이미 베어 쌓아 놓은 곡식가리에 불을 놓았다. 불은 곡식가리뿐 아니라 아직 베지 않은 곡식과 포도원과 올리브 농원까지 다 태워 버렸다.
  1. But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
  2. And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.
  3. And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
  4. And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.
  5. And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
  1. 블레셋 사람들은 누가 그렇게 하였는지 알아 보았다. 마침내 사람들은, 딤나 사람 곧 삼손의 장인이 삼손의 아내를 빼앗아 들러리 섰던 친구에게 아내로 주었기 때문에, 삼손이 저지른 일임을 알게 되었다. 블레셋 사람들이 딤나로 올라가서, 그 여자와 그 아버지를 불에 태워 죽였다.
  2. 그러자 삼손이 그들에게 말하였다. "너희가 이렇게 하였으니, 내가 너희에게 원수를 갚기 전에는 가만히 있지 않겠다."
  3. 그는 블레셋 사람들을 닥치는 대로 마구 무찌르고, 내려가서 에담 바위 동굴에서 쉬고 있었다.
  4. 블레셋 사람들이 쳐올라와서 유다 땅에 진을 치고는, 레히 지방을 짓밟았다.
  5. 유다 사람들이 그들에게 말하였다. "당신들은 무엇 때문에 우리를 치러 올라왔소?" 그들이 대답하였다. "삼손을 잡으러 왔소. 삼손이 우리에게 한 대로, 우리도 그에게 갚아 주겠소."
  1. Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
  2. And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
  3. And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.
  4. Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.
  5. And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
  1. 그래서 유다 사람 삼천 명이 에담 바위 동굴에 내려가서 삼손에게 말하였다. "블레셋 사람들이 우리를 지배하고 있다는 것을 당신은 잘 알지 않소? 그런데 당신이 어찌하여 우리에게 이런 일이 미치게 하오?" 삼손이 그들에게 대답하였다. "그들이 나에게 한 대로 나도 그들에게 갚아 주었을 뿐이오."
  2. 그러자 그들이 삼손에게 말하였다. "우리는 당신을 묶어 블레셋 사람들에게 넘겨 주려고 왔소." 삼손이 그들에게 말하였다. "그렇다면 나를 죽이지 않겠다고 맹세하시오."
  3. 그들은 삼손에게 다짐하였다. "결코 죽이지 않겠소. 우리는 당신을 묶어서 그들에게 넘겨만 주겠소. 결코 우리가 당신을 죽이지는 않겠소." 그리고 그들은 새 밧줄 두 개로 그를 묶어서, 바위 동굴에서 데리고 나왔다.
  4. 삼손이 레히에 이르자, 블레셋 사람들이 마주 나오며, 그에게 소리를 질렀다. 그 때에 주님의 영이 그에게 세차게 내리니, 그의 팔을 동여매었던 밧줄이 불에 탄 삼 오라기같이 되어서, 팔에서 맥없이 끊어져 나갔다.
  5. 마침 삼손은 싱싱한 당나귀 턱뼈 하나가 있는 것을 보고, 그것을 손에 집어 들고, 블레셋 사람을 천 명이나 쳐죽이고 나서,
  1. Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
  2. And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
  3. And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
  4. And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
  5. And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
  1. 이렇게 외쳤다. 나귀 턱뼈 하나로 주검을 무더기로 쌓았다. 나귀 턱뼈 하나로 천 명이나 쳐죽였다.
  2. 이렇게 외치고 나서, 삼손은 손에 든 턱뼈를 내던지고, 그 곳 이름을 라맛레히라고 불렀다.
  3. 삼손은 목이 너무 말라서 주님께 부르짖었다. "주님께서 친히 이 크나큰 승리를 주님의 종의 손에 허락하셨습니다. 그런데 이제 제가 목이 타서 저 할례받지 못한 자들의 손에 붙잡혀 죽어야 하겠습니까?"
  4. 하나님이 레히에 있는 한 우묵한 곳을 터지게 하시니, 거기에서 물이 솟아나왔다. 삼손이 그 물을 마시자, 제정신이 들어 기운을 차렸다. 그래서 그 샘 이름을 엔학고레라고 하였는데, 오늘날까지도 레히에 있다.
  5. 삼손은 블레셋 사람들이 다스리던 시대에 이십 년 동안 이스라엘의 사사로 있었다.
  1. And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
  2. And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi.
  3. And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
  4. But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
  5. And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
 
  삼손의 죽음(16:1-16:31)    
 
  1. 삼손이 가사에 가서, 창녀를 하나 만나 그의 집으로 들어갔다.
  2. 삼손이 거기에 왔다는 말을 들은 가사 사람들은, 그 곳을 에워싸고 밤새도록 성문에 숨어 그를 기다렸다. 동이 틀 때를 기다렸다가 그를 죽이려고 생각한 그들은 밤새 가만히 있었다.
  3. 그러나 삼손은 밤늦도록 누워 있다가, 밤중에 일어나서 성 문짝을 양쪽 기둥과 빗장째 뽑았다. 그는 그것을 어깨에 메고 헤브론 맞은편 산꼭대기에 올라가, 거기에다 버렸다.
  4. 그 뒤에 삼손은 소렉 골짜기에 사는 어떤 여자를 사랑하게 되었는데, 그의 이름은 들릴라였다.
  5. 블레셋 사람의 통치자들이 그 여자를 찾아와서 말하였다. "당신은 그를 꾀어 그의 엄청난 힘이 어디에서 나오는지, 그리고 우리가 어떻게 하면 그를 잡아 묶어서 꼼짝 못 하게 할 수 있는지 알아내시오. 그러면 우리가 각각 당신에게 은 천백 세겔씩 주겠소."
  1. Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.
  2. And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.
  3. And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.
  4. And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
  5. And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
  1. 그래서 들릴라가 삼손에게 물었다. "당신의 그 엄청난 힘은 어디서 나오지요? 어떻게 하면 당신을 묶어 꼼짝 못 하게 할 수 있는지 말해 주세요."
  2. 삼손이 그에게 말해 주었다. "마르지 않은 푸른 칡 일곱 매끼로 나를 묶으면, 내가 힘이 빠져서 여느 사람처럼 되지."
  3. 그리하여 블레셋 사람의 통치자들이 마르지 않은 푸른 칡 일곱 매끼를 그 여자에게 가져다 주었고, 그 여자는 그것으로 삼손을 묶었다.
  4. 미리 옆 방에 사람들을 숨겨 놓고 있다가, 그에게 "삼손, 블레셋 사람들이 당신에게 들이닥쳤어요!" 하고 소리쳤다. 그러나 삼손은 그 밧줄을 불에 탄 삼 오라기를 끊듯이 끊어 버렸다. 그의 힘의 비밀은 여전히 알려지지 않았다. 그러자
  5. 들릴라가 삼손에게 말하였다. "이것 봐요. 당신은 나를 놀렸어요. 거짓말까지 했어요. 무엇으로 당신을 묶어야 꼼짝 못 하는지 말해 주세요."
  1. And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.
  2. And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
  3. Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
  4. Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.
  5. And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.
  1. 삼손이 그에게 말하였다. "한 번도 쓰지 않은 새 밧줄로 나를 꽁꽁 묶으면, 내가 힘이 빠져서 여느 사람처럼 되지."
  2. 들릴라는 새 밧줄을 가져다가 그것으로 그를 묶었다. 미리 옆 방에 사람들을 숨겨 놓고 있다가, 그에게 "삼손, 블레셋 사람들이 당신에게 들이닥쳤어요!" 하고 소리쳤다. 그러나 삼손은 자기 팔을 묶은 새 밧줄을 실오라기 끊듯이 끊어 버렸다.
  3. 그러자 들릴라가 삼손에게 말하였다. "당신은 여전히 나를 놀리고 있어요. 여태까지 당신은 나에게 거짓말만 했어요! 무엇으로 당신을 묶어야 꼼짝 못 하는지 말해 주세요." 삼손이 그에게 말하였다. "내 머리칼 일곱 가닥을 베틀 날실에 섞어서 짜면 되지."
  4. 그 여자는 그것을 말뚝에 꽉 잡아 매고, 그에게 "삼손, 블레셋 사람들이 당신에게 들이닥쳤어요!" 하고 소리쳤다. 그러자 삼손이 잠에서 깨어나 말뚝과 베틀과 천을 뽑아 올렸다.
  5. 들릴라가 그에게 또 말하였다. "당신은 마음을 내게 털어놓지도 않으면서, 어떻게 나를 사랑한다고 말할 수가 있어요? 이렇게 세 번씩이나 당신은 나를 놀렸고, 그 엄청난 힘이 어디서 나오는지 아직 나에게 말해 주지 않았어요."
  1. And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
  2. Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.
  3. And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.
  4. And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.
  5. And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.
  1. 들릴라가 같은 말로 날마다 끈질기게 졸라대니까, 삼손은 마음이 괴로워서 죽을 지경이 되었다.
  2. 하는 수 없이 삼손은 그에게 속마음을 다 털어 놓으면서 말하였다. "나의 머리는 면도칼을 대어 본 적이 없는데, 이것은 내가 모태에서부터 하나님께 바쳐진 나실 사람이기 때문이오. 내 머리털을 깎으면, 나는 힘을 잃고 약해져서, 여느 사람처럼 될 것이오."
  3. 들릴라는 삼손이 자기에게 속마음을 다 털어놓은 것을 보고, 사람을 보내어 블레셋 사람의 통치자들에게 전하였다. "한 번만 더 올라오십시오. 삼손이 나에게 속마음을 다 털어놓았습니다." 그러자 블레셋 사람의 통치자들이 약속한 돈을 가지고 그 여자에게 올라왔다.
  4. 들릴라는 삼손을 자기 무릎에서 잠들게 한 뒤에, 사람을 불러 일곱 가닥으로 땋은 그의 머리털을 깎게 하였다. 그런 다음에 그를 괴롭혀 보았으나, 그의 엄청난 힘은 이미 그에게서 사라졌다.
  5. 그 때에 들릴라가 "삼손! 블레셋 사람들이 들이닥쳤어요!" 하고 소리쳤다. 삼손은 잠에서 깨어나 "내가 이번에도 지난 번처럼 뛰쳐 나가서 힘을 떨쳐야지!" 하고 생각하였으나, 주님께서 이미 자기를 떠나신 것을 미처 깨닫지 못하였다.
  1. And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
  2. That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
  3. And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
  4. And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
  5. And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.
  1. 블레셋 사람들은 그를 사로잡아, 그의 두 눈을 뽑고, 가사로 끌고 내려갔다. 그들은 삼손을 놋사슬로 묶어, 감옥에서 연자맷돌을 돌리게 하였다.
  2. 그러나 깎였던 그의 머리털이 다시 자라기 시작하였다.
  3. 블레셋 사람의 통치자들이 그들의 신 다곤에게 큰 제사를 바치려고 함께 모여 즐거워하며 떠들었다. "우리의 원수 삼손을 우리의 신이 우리의 손에 넘겨 주셨다!"
  4. 백성도 그를 보고 그들의 신을 찬양하며 소리쳤다. "우리 땅을 망쳐 놓은 원수, 우리 백성을 많이 죽인 원수를 우리의 신이 우리 손에 넘겨 주셨다."
  5. 그들은 마음이 흐뭇하여, 삼손을 그 곳으로 불러다가 자기들 앞에서 재주를 부리게 하라고 외쳤다. 사람들이 삼손을 감옥에서 끌어내었고, 삼손은 그들이 보는 앞에서 재주를 부리게 되었다. 그들은 삼손을 기둥 사이에 세워 두었다.
  1. But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.
  2. Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.
  3. Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.
  4. And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.
  5. And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.
  1. 그러자 삼손은 자기 손을 붙들어 주는 소년에게 "이 신전을 버티고 있는 기둥을 만질 수 있는 곳에 나를 데려다 다오. 기둥에 좀 기대고 싶다" 하고 부탁하였다.
  2. 그 때에 그 신전에는 남자와 여자로 가득 차 있었는데, 블레셋 사람의 통치자들도 모두 거기에 있었다. 옥상에도 삼천 명쯤 되는 남녀가 삼손이 재주 부리는 것을 구경하려고 모여 있었다.
  3. 그 때에 삼손이 주님께 부르짖으며 간구하였다. "주 하나님, 나를 기억하여 주시기를 간절히 바랍니다. 하나님, 이번 한 번만 힘을 주시기를 간절히 바랍니다. 나의 두 눈을 뽑은 블레셋 사람들에게 단번에 원수를 갚게 하여 주십시오."
  4. 그런 다음에 삼손은 그 신전을 버티고 있는 가운데의 두 기둥을, 하나는 왼손으로 또 하나는 오른손으로 붙잡았다.
  5. 그리고 그가 "블레셋 사람들과 함께 죽게 하여 주십시오!" 하고 외치며, 있는 힘을 다하여 기둥을 밀어내니, 그 신전이 무너져 내려 통치자들과 모든 백성이 돌더미에 깔렸다. 삼손이 죽으면서 죽인 사람이, 그가 살았을 때에 죽인 사람보다도 더 많았다.
  1. And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.
  2. Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.
  3. And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
  4. And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
  5. And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
  1. 그의 형제들과 아버지의 집안 온 친족이 내려와서 그의 주검을 가지고 돌아가서, 소라와 에스다올 사이에 있는 그의 아버지 마노아의 무덤에 묻었다. 그는 스무 해 동안 이스라엘의 사사로 있었다.
  1. Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
