사무엘하

  본서는 다윗의 통치를 통해 하나님을 대리하여 통치하는 신정 국가의 이상을 보여 주고 있다. 다윗이 하나님의 뜻을 따라 성실과 공의로 다스리는 모습을 기록함으로써 장차 왕으로 오실 그리스도의 통치를 보여 주고 있다. 아울러 다윗의 성공과 실패를 통하여 인생에 있어서의 성공의 관건은 하나님에 대한 신앙 유지에 있음을 가르쳐 준다.

  사울이 죽은 후 왕위에 등극한 다윗은 왕국의 기틀을 공고히 하기 위한 제반 조치와 함께 성공적인 정복 전쟁을 통해 영토를 애굽에서 유브라데까지 확장시킨다. 또한 다윗은 밧세바 사건으로 말미암아 갖가지 재난을 겪고, 여러 가지 사건들을 하나님의 은혜로 극복한다.

 

 

사무엘하 1:1-2:32

 사울과 요나단의 죽음을 전해 들은 다윗은 그들을 추모하는 애가를 지어 불렀다. 유다 지파의 왕으로 등극한 다윗은 사울을 장사한 야베스 사람들을 축복했다. 사울의 군장 아브넬이 사울의 아들 이스보셋을 왕으로 세움으로써 다윗의 집과 사울의 집 사이의 싸움은 계속되었다. 다윗의 군장 요압은 기브온 전투에서 아브넬에게 승리를 거두었으나 동생 아사헬을 잃었다.
  
  사울과 요나단의 죽음을 애도하는 다윗(1:1-1:27)    
 
  1. 사울이 죽은 뒤에, 다윗이 아말렉을 치고, 시글락으로 돌아와서 이틀을 지냈다.
  2. 사흘째 되던 날, 한 젊은 사람이 사울의 진에서 왔다. 그는 옷을 찢고, 머리에 흙을 뒤집어 써서, 애도의 표시를 하고 있었다. 그가 다윗에게 와서, 땅에 엎드려서 절을 하니,
  3. 다윗이 그에게 물었다. "너는 어디에서 왔느냐?" 그가 다윗에게 대답하였다. "저는 이스라엘 진에서 가까스로 살아서 빠져 나왔습니다."
  4. 다윗이 그에게 다시 물었다. "무슨 일이 일어났는지, 어서 나에게 알려라." 그가 대답하였다. "우리의 군인들이 싸움터에서 달아나기도 하였고, 또 그 군인들 가운데는 쓰러져 죽은 사람도 많습니다. 사울 임금님과 요나단 왕자께서도 전사하셨습니다."
  5. 다윗이 자기에게 소식을 전하는 그 젊은이에게 다그쳐 물었다. "사울 임금님과 요나단 왕자께서 전사한 줄을 네가 어떻게 알았느냐?"
  1. Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;
  2. It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
  3. And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
  4. And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
  5. And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
  1. 다윗에게 소식을 전하는 젊은이가 설명하였다. "제가 우연히 길보아 산에 올라갔다가, 사울 임금님이 창으로 몸을 버티고 서 계신 것을 보았습니다. 그 때에 적의 병거와 기병대가 그에게 바짝 다가오고 있었습니다.
  2. 사울 임금님이 뒤로 고개를 돌리시다가, 저를 보시고서, 저를 부르셨습니다. 그래서 제가, 왜 그러시느냐고 여쭈었더니,
  3. 저더러 누구냐고 물으셨습니다. 아말렉 사람이라고 말씀드렸더니,
  4. 사울 임금님이 저더러 '어서 나를 죽여 다오. 아직 목숨이 붙어 있기는 하나, 괴로워서 견딜 수가 없다' 하고 말씀하셨습니다.
  5. 제가 보기에도, 일어나서 사실 것 같지 않아서, 다가가서 명령하신 대로 하였습니다. 그런 다음에, 저는 머리에 쓰고 계신 왕관을 벗기고, 팔에 끼고 계신 팔찌를 빼어서, 이렇게 가져 왔습니다."
  1. And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.
  2. And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.
  3. And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.
  4. He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
  5. So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
  1. 그러자 다윗이 슬픔을 억누르지 못하여, 자기의 옷을 잡아 찢었고, 그와 같이 있던 사람들도 모두 그렇게 하였다.
  2. 그리고 그들은, 사울과 그의 아들 요나단과 주님의 백성 이스라엘 가문이 칼에 맞아 쓰러진 것을 슬퍼하면서, 해가 질 때까지 울며 금식하였다.
  3. 다윗이 자기에게 소식을 전하여 준 젊은이에게 "너는 어디 사람이냐?" 하고 물으니, "저는 이스라엘 땅에 거주하는 아말렉 사람, 곧 외국인의 아들입니다" 하고 그가 대답하였다.
  4. 다윗이 그에게 호통을 쳤다. "네가 어떻게 감히 겁도 없이 손을 들어서, 주님께서 기름을 부어서 세우신 분을 살해하였느냐?"
  5. 그리고 다윗이 부하 가운데서 한 사람을 불러서 "가까이 가서, 그를 쳐죽여라" 하고 명령하였다. 명령을 받은 그 사람이 그를 칼로 치니, 그가 죽었다.
  1. Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:
  2. And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
  3. And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.
  4. And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?
  5. And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.
  1. 그 때에 다윗이 죽어 가는 그를 두고, 이렇게 말하였다. "네가 죽는 것은 너의 탓이다. 네가 너의 입으로 '주님께서 기름을 부어서 세우신 분을 제가 죽였습니다' 하고 너의 죄를 시인하였다."
  2. 다윗이 사울과 그의 아들 요나단의 죽음을 슬퍼하여, 조가를 지어서 부르고,
  3. 그것을 '활 노래'라 하여, 유다 사람들에게 가르치라고 명령하였다. '야살의 책'에 기록되어 있는 그 조가는 다음과 같다.
  4. 이스라엘아, 우리의 지도자들이 산 위에서 죽었다. 가장 용감한 우리의 군인들이 언덕에서 쓰러졌다.
  5. 이 소식이 가드에 전해지지 않게 하여라. 이 소식이 아스글론의 모든 거리에도 전해지지 않게 하여라. 블레셋 사람의 딸들이 듣고서 기뻐할라. 저 할례받지 못한 자들의 딸들이 환호성을 올릴라.
  1. And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD's anointed.
  2. And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
  3. (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)
  4. The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!
  5. Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
  1. 길보아의 산들아, 너희 위에는 이제부터 이슬이 내리지 아니하고, 비도 내리지 아니할 것이다. 밭에서는 제물에 쓸 곡식도 거둘 수 없을 것이다. 길보아의 산에서, 용사들의 방패가 치욕을 당하였고, 사울의 방패가 녹슨 채로 버려졌기 때문이다.
  2. 원수들을 치고 적들을 무찌를 때에, 요나단의 활이 빗나간 일이 없고, 사울의 칼이 허공을 친 적이 없다.
  3. 사울과 요나단은 살아 있을 때에도 그렇게 서로 사랑하며 다정하더니, 죽을 때에도 서로 떨어지지 않았구나! 독수리보다도 더 재빠르고, 사자보다도 더 힘이 세더니!
  4. 이스라엘의 딸들아, 너희에게 울긋불긋 화려한 옷을 입혀 주고, 너희의 옷에 금장식을 달아 주던, 사울을 애도하며 울어라!
  5. 아, 용사들이 전쟁에서 쓰러져 죽었구나! 요나단, 어쩌다가 산 위에서 죽어 있는가?
  1. Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil.
  2. From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
  3. Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
  4. Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
  5. How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.
  1. 나의 형 요나단, 형 생각에 나의 마음이 아프오. 형이 나를 그렇게도 아껴 주더니, 나를 끔찍이 아껴 주던 형의 사랑은 여인의 사랑보다도 더 진한 것이었소.
  2. 어쩌다가 두 용사가 엎드러졌으며, 무기들이 버려져서, 쓸모 없이 되었는가?
  1. I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
  2. How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
 
  유다 왕이 된 다윗(2:1-2:32)    
 
  1. 이런 일이 일어난 뒤에, 다윗이 주님께 "제가 유다에 있는 성읍으로 올라가도 됩니까?" 하고 여쭈었다. 주님께서 그에게 올라가라고 하셨다. 다윗이 다시 여쭈었다. "어느 성읍으로 올라가야 합니까?" 주님께서 헤브론으로 올라가라고 알려 주셨다.
  2. 그리하여 다윗이 그 곳으로 올라갔고, 그의 두 아내 이스르엘 여인 아히노암과, 갈멜 사람 나발의 아내였던 아비가일도 함께 올라갔다.
  3. 다윗은 자기의 부하들과 그들의 온 가족을 데리고 함께 올라가서, 헤브론의 여러 성읍에서 살도록 하였다.
  4. 유다 사람들이 찾아와서, 그 곳에서 다윗에게 기름을 부어서, 유다 사람의 왕으로 삼았다. 사울을 장사지낸 사람들이 길르앗의 야베스 사람들이라는 소식이 다윗에게 전해지니,
  5. 다윗이 길르앗의 야베스 주민에게 사절을 보내어서, 그들에게 이와 같이 전하였다. "야베스 주민 여러분이 사울 왕의 장례를 잘 치러서, 왕에게 의리를 지켰으니, 주님께서 여러분에게 복을 주시기 바랍니다.
  1. And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
  2. So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal's wife the Carmelite.
  3. And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
  4. And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.
  5. And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.
  1. 여러분이 그러한 일을 하였으니, 이제는 주님께서 여러분을 친절과 성실로 대하여 주시기를 바랍니다. 나도 여러분을 잘 대접하겠습니다.
  2. 비록 여러분의 왕 사울 임금님은 세상을 떠나셨으나, 유다 사람이 나에게 기름을 부어서 왕으로 삼았으니, 여러분은 이제 낙심하지 말고, 용기를 내기를 바랍니다."
  3. 넬의 아들 아브넬은 사울의 군대 사령관인데, 그가 사울의 아들 이스보셋을 데리고, 마하나임으로 건너갔다.
  4. 거기에서 그는 이스보셋을 왕으로 삼아서, 길르앗과 아술과 이스르엘과 에브라임과 베냐민과 온 이스라엘을 다스리게 하였다.
  5. 사울의 아들 이스보셋은, 이스라엘의 왕이 될 때에 마흔 살이었다. 그는 두 해 동안 다스렸다. 유다 족속은 다윗을 따랐는데,
  1. And now the LORD shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.
  2. Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
  3. But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
  4. And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
  5. Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.
  1. 다윗이 유다 족속의 왕으로 헤브론에서 다스린 기간은 일곱 해 여섯 달이다.
  2. 어느 날, 넬의 아들 아브넬이 사울의 아들 이스보셋의 부하들을 거느리고, 마하나임을 떠나 기브온으로 갔다.
  3. 스루야의 아들 요압도 다윗의 부하들을 거느리고 나서서, 두 장군이 기브온 연못을 사이에 두고, 서로 맞붙게 되었다. 한 편은 연못의 이쪽에, 또 한 편은 연못의 저쪽에 진을 쳤다.
  4. 그 때에 아브넬이 요압에게 이런 제안을 하였다. "젊은이들을 내세워서, 우리 앞에서 겨루게 합시다." 요압도 그렇게 하자고 찬성하였다.
  5. 젊은이들이 일어나서, 일정한 수대로 나아갔는데, 사울의 아들 이스보셋 쪽에서는 베냐민 사람 열두 명이 나왔고, 다윗의 부하들 가운데서도 열두 명이 나왔다.
  1. And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
  2. And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
  3. And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
  4. And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
  5. Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, which pertained to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
  1. 그들은 서로 상대편 사람의 머리카락을 거머쥐고, 똑같이 상대편 사람의 옆구리를 칼로 찔러서, 모두 함께 쓰러져 죽었다. 그래서 기브온에 있는 그 곳을 헬갓핫수림, 곧 '칼의 벌판'이라고 부른다.
  2. 그 날에 싸움은 가장 치열하게 번져 나갔고, 결국 아브넬이 거느린 이스라엘 군대가 다윗의 군대에게 졌다.
  3. 마침 그 곳에는, 스루야의 세 아들 요압과 아비새와 아사헬이 있었는데, 아사헬은 들에 사는 노루처럼 달음박질을 잘 하였다.
  4. 아사헬이 아브넬을 뒤쫓기 시작하여, 오른쪽으로나 왼쪽으로 빗나가지 아니하고, 아브넬만을 바싹 뒤쫓았다.
  5. 아브넬이 뒤를 돌아보면서 "아사헬, 바로 너였구나!" 하고 말하니, 아사헬이 "그래, 바로 나다!" 하고 말하였다.
  1. And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkathhazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
  2. And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
  3. And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.
  4. And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
  5. Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.
  1. 그러자 아브넬이 그를 타일렀다. "나를 그만 뒤쫓고, 돌아서서 가거라. 여기 나의 좌우에 있는 젊은이나 한 사람 붙잡아서, 그의 군복을 벗겨 가지고 가거라." 그러나 아사헬은 그가 뒤쫓던 길에서 물러가려고 하지 않았다.
  2. 아브넬이 다시 한 번 아사헬을 타일렀다. "너는 나를 그만 뒤쫓고, 물러가거라. 내가 너를 쳐죽여서, 너를 땅바닥에 쓰러뜨려야 할 까닭이 없지 않느냐? 내가 너를 죽이고, 어떻게 너의 형 요압을 보겠느냐?"
  3. 그런데도 아사헬이 물러가기를 거절하니, 아브넬이 창 끝으로 아사헬의 배를 찔렀다. 창이 그의 등을 뚫고 나왔으며, 그는 그 자리에서 쓰러져 죽었다. 아사헬을 따르던 사람들이, 그가 쓰러진 곳에 이르러서, 모두 멈추어 섰다.
  4. 그러나 나머지 두 형제 요압과 아비새는 아브넬을 계속 뒤쫓았다. 그들이 기브온 광야로 들어가는 길 가의 기아 건너쪽에 있는 암마 언덕에 이르렀을 때에, 날이 저물었다.
  5. 그 때에 아브넬을 따르는 베냐민 족속의 군인들은, 언덕 위에서 아브넬을 호위하고 버티었다.
  1. And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.
  2. And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
  3. Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
  4. Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
  5. And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.
  1. 거기에서 아브넬이 요압에게 휴전을 제의하였다. "우리가 언제까지 이렇게 싸워야 하겠소? 이렇게 싸우다가는, 마침내 우리 둘 다 비참하게 망하고 말지 않겠소? 우리가 얼마나 더 기다려야, 장군이 장군의 부하들에게 동족을 추격하지 말고 돌아가라고 명령하겠소?"
  2. 요압이 대답하였다. "하나님의 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하오. 장군이 이런 제안을 하지 않으셨으면, 내 군대가 내일 아침까지 추격을 해서, 장군을 잡았을 것이오."
  3. 요압이 나팔을 부니, 모든 군인이 멈추어 섰다. 그들은 더 이상 이스라엘을 추격하지 않고, 더 이상 그들과 싸우지 않았다.
  4. 아브넬과 그의 부하들이 그 날, 밤이 새도록 아라바를 지나갔다. 그들은 요단 강을 건너고, 비드론 온 땅을 거쳐서 마하나임에 이르렀다.
  5. 요압도 아브넬을 뒤쫓던 길에서 돌아와서, 군인들을 점호하여 보니, 다윗의 부하 가운데서 열아홉 명이 없고, 아사헬도 없었다.
  1. Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?
  2. And Joab said, As God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
  3. So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
  4. And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.
  5. And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
  1. 그러나 다윗의 부하들은, 아브넬의 부하 가운데서 베냐민과 아브넬 군인을 삼백육십 명이나 쳐죽였다.
  2. 요압과 그 부하들은 아사헬의 주검을 메어다가, 그의 아버지가 묻혀 있는 베들레헴의 무덤에 장사하였다. 그리고 그들이 밤이 새도록 걸어서 헤브론에 이르렀을 때에, 아침 해가 떠올랐다.
  1. But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.
  2. And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
