- 아이들아, 너희는 아버지의 훈계를 잘 듣고, 명철을 얻도록 귀를 기울여라.
- 내가 선한 도리를 너희에게 전하니, 너희는 내 교훈을 저버리지 말아라.
- 나도 내 아버지에게는 아들이었고, 내 어머니 앞에서도 하나뿐인 귀여운 자식이었다.
- 아버지는 내게 이렇게 가르치셨다. "내 말을 네 마음에 간직하고, 내 명령을 지켜라. 네가 잘 살 것이다.
- 지혜를 얻고, 명철을 얻어라. 내가 친히 하는 말을 잊지 말고, 어기지 말아라.

- Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
- For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
- For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
- He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
- Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

- 지혜를 버리지 말아라. 그것이 너를 지켜 줄 것이다. 지혜를 사랑하여라. 그것이 너를 보호하여 줄 것이다.
- 지혜가 으뜸이니, 지혜를 얻어라. 네가 가진 모든 것을 다 바쳐서라도 명철을 얻어라.
- 지혜를 소중히 여겨라. 그것이 너를 높일 것이다. 지혜를 가슴에 품어라. 그것이 너를 존귀하게 할 것이다.
- 그 지혜가 아름다운 화관을 너의 머리에 씌워 주고, 영광스러운 왕관을 너에게 씌워 줄 것이다."

- Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
- Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
- Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
- She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
