- 아이들아, 아버지의 명령을 지키고, 어머니의 가르침을 저버리지 말아라.
- 그것을 항상 네 마음에 간직하며, 네 목에 걸고 다녀라.
- 네가 길을 갈 때 그것이 너를 인도하여 주며, 네가 잠잘 때에 너를 지켜 주고, 네가 깨면 너의 말벗이 되어 줄 것이다.
- 참으로 그 명령은 등불이요, 그 가르침은 빛이며, 그 훈계의 책망은 생명의 길이다.
- 이것이 너를 악한 여자에게서 지켜 주고, 음행하는 여자의 호리는 말에 네가 빠지지 않게 지켜 준다.

- My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
- Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
- When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
- For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
- To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
