민수기 32:1-32:42

 요단 동편 지역은 목축하기에 좋은 여건을 지니고 있었기 때문에 가축이 많았던 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손은 그 지역을 기업으로 줄 것을 모세와 회중 족장들에게 요청했다. 이에 모세는 그들이 가나안 정복 전쟁의 선두에 선다는 조건으로 르우벤, 갓, 그리고 므낫세 반 지파에게 요단 동편 지역을 기업으로 주었다.
  
  요단 동편 지파들(32:1-32:42)    
 
  1. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손에게는 가축 떼가 셀 수 없을 만큼 많았다. 그들이 야스엘 땅과 길르앗 땅을 둘러보니, 가축 떼를 놓아 먹이기에는 아주 적절한 곳이었다.
  2. 그리하여 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손은 모세와 제사장 엘르아살과 회중 대표들을 찾아가 요청하였다.
  3. "아다롯과 디본과 야스엘과 니므라와 헤스본과 엘르알레와 스밤과 느보와 브온은,
  4. 주님께서 이스라엘 모든 자손 앞에서 정복하신 땅으로서, 가축 떼가 많은 우리에게는 목축하기에 알맞은 곳입니다.
  5. 우리를 좋게 여기신다면, 이 땅을 우리에게 주셔서 우리의 차지가 되게 하시고, 우리는 요단 강을 건너가지 않도록 하여 주시기를 바랍니다."
  1. Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had an exceedingly large number of livestock So when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, that it was indeed a place suitable for livestock,
  2. the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the leaders of the congregation, saying,
  3. "Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo and Beon,
  4. the land which the LORD conquered before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock."
  5. They said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession; do not take us across the Jordan."
  1. 모세가 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손에게 말하였다. "당신들의 동족 이스라엘은 전쟁하러 나가는데, 당신들만은 여기에 머물러 살겠다는 말이오?
  2. 이스라엘 자손이 주님께서 주신 땅으로 가려고 하는데, 어찌하여 당신들은 동족의 사기를 꺾으시오?
  3. 내가 가데스바네아에서 당신들의 아버지들더러 그 땅을 살펴보고 오라고 하였을 때에, 당신들의 아버지들도 그렇게 하였소.
  4. 그들은 기껏 에스골 골짜기까지 올라가서 그 땅을 둘러보고 와서는, 이스라엘 자손의 사기를 떨어뜨려, 주님께서 주신 그 땅으로 들어갈 수 없게 하였소.
  5. 그리하여 그 날 주님께서 진노하셔서 이렇게 맹세하셨소.
  1. But Moses said to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, "Shall your brothers go to war while you yourselves sit here?
  2. "Now why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which the LORD has given them?
  3. "This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
  4. "For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the sons of Israel so that they did not go into the land which the LORD had given them.
  5. "So the LORD'S anger burned in that day, and He swore, saying,
  1. '그들이 나를 철저히 따르지 아니하니, 이집트에서 나온 이들 가운데서 지금 스무 살이 된 사람으로부터 시작하여 그 위로는, 어느 누구도, 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주기로 맹세한 그 땅을 볼 수 없을 것이다.
  2. 다만 그나스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙과 눈의 아들 여호수아는, 나 주를 철저히 따랐으므로 예외이다.'
  3. 주님께서는 이렇게 이스라엘에게 진노하셔서, 주님께서 보시는 앞에서 못된 짓을 한 그 세대 전체가 다 죽을 때까지, 사십 년 동안이나 그들을 광야에서 떠돌게 하셨소.
  4. 그런데 이제 당신들마저 당신들 아버지들을 따라서, 같은 무리의 죄인들이 되어, 주님께서 이스라엘에게 더욱더 진노하시게 하셨소.
  5. 당신들이 주님을 따르지 않고 돌아선다면, 주님께서는 다시 이 모든 백성을 광야에 버려 두실 것이오. 우리 백성 모두가 멸망하면, 그것이 바로 당신들 때문인 줄 아시오!"
  1. 'None of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob; for they did not follow Me fully,
  2. except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have followed the LORD fully.'
  3. "So the LORD'S anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the LORD was destroyed.
  4. "Now behold, you have risen up in your fathers' place, a brood of sinful men, to add still more to the burning anger of the LORD against Israel.
  5. "For if you turn away from following Him, He will once more abandon them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people."
  1. 그러자 그들이 모세 앞으로 와서 말하였다. "그러면 우리가 이렇게 하겠습니다. 먼저 여기에다가 가축을 기를 우리를 만들고, 또 우리에게 딸린 어린 것들이 살 성을 쌓겠습니다.
  2. 이 땅 원주민들도 있고 하니, 우리에게 딸린 어린 것들이 안전하게 머물 수 있도록 성을 단단하게 쌓은 다음에, 모두가 무장을 하고, 이스라엘 자손의 선발대가 되어, 그들이 가야 할 곳까지 그들을 이끌고 가겠습니다.
  3. 이스라엘 자손 각자가 받을 몫의 토지 재산을 차지하기 전까지는, 우리가 집으로 돌아오지 않겠습니다.
  4. 또한 요단 강 동쪽, 해 뜨는 쪽에서 우리 몫의 토지를 재산으로 차지하였으니, 요단 강 서쪽에서는 우리가 땅을 재산으로 나누어 받지 않겠습니다."
  5. 그러자 모세가 그들에게 대답하였다. "만일 당신들이 말한 대로 한다면, 당신들이 전쟁에 나가려고 주님 앞에서 무장을 하고,
  1. Then they came near to him and said, "We will build here sheepfolds for our livestock and cities for our little ones;
  2. but we ourselves will be armed ready to go before the sons of Israel, until we have brought them to their place, while our little ones live in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
  3. "We will not return to our homes until every one of the sons of Israel has possessed his inheritance.
  4. "For we will not have an inheritance with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has fallen to us on this side of the Jordan toward the east."
  5. So Moses said to them, "If you will do this, if you will arm yourselves before the LORD for the war,
  1. 주님께서 그의 대적을 그 앞에서 몰아 낼 때까지, 당신들 모두가 무장한 채로 주님 앞에서 요단 강을 건넌다면,
  2. 그 땅이 주님 앞에서 정복되는 날, 당신들은 돌아갈 수 있고, 주님과 이스라엘에 대한 당신들의 의무에서 벗어날 수 있소. 그리고 지금 이 땅은 주님 앞에서 당신들의 소유가 될 것이오.
  3. 그러나 만일 당신들이 이렇게 하지 않으면, 당신들은 주님께 죄를 짓는 것이오. 이러한 죄를 짓고서는, 당신들이 절대로 그 죄에서 벗어나지 못할 줄 아시오.
  4. 당신들에게 딸린 어린 것들을 보호할 성을 쌓으시오. 가축을 가둘 우리도 만드시오. 그리고 당신들이 약속한 것을 그대로 실행하도록 하시오!"
  5. 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손이 모세에게 말하였다. "어른의 종인 우리는, 어른께서 명령하신 대로 따르겠습니다.
  1. and all of you armed men cross over the Jordan before the LORD until He has driven His enemies out from before Him,
  2. and the land is subdued before the LORD, then afterward you shall return and be free of obligation toward the LORD and toward Israel, and this land shall be yours for a possession before the LORD.
  3. "But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out.
  4. "Build yourselves cities for your little ones, and sheepfolds for your sheep, and do what you have promised."
  5. The sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, "Your servants will do just as my lord commands.
  1. 우리에게 딸린 어린 것들, 우리에게 딸린 여인들, 우리가 가진 가축 떼와 모든 짐승은 여기 길르앗 여러 성읍에 남게 하겠습니다.
  2. 그러나 어른의 종인 우리는, 말씀하신 대로, 모두 각자 무장을 하고, 요단 강을 건너가 주님 앞에서 싸우겠습니다."
  3. 모세는 제사장 엘르아살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손 각 지파의 가족 우두머리들에게 명령을 내렸다.
  4. 모세는 그들에게 다음과 같은 명령을 내렸다. "갓 자손과 르우벤 자손이 모두 각자 무장을 하고, 당신들과 함께 주님 앞에서 싸우려고 요단 강을 건너면, 당신들 앞에서 그 땅이 정복되는 날, 이 길르앗 땅을 그들의 소유로 주십시오.
  5. 그러나 그들이, 당신들과 함께 무장을 하고 요단 강을 건너지 않으면, 가나안에서 당신들과 함께 재산을 받게 하십시오."
  1. "Our little ones, our wives, our livestock and all our cattle shall remain there in the cities of Gilead;
  2. while your servants, everyone who is armed for war, will cross over in the presence of the LORD to battle, just as my lord says."
  3. So Moses gave command concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' households of the tribes of the sons of Israel.
  4. Moses said to them, "If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, everyone who is armed for battle, will cross with you over the Jordan in the presence of the LORD, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;
  5. but if they will not cross over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."
  1. 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손이 대답하였다. "어른의 종인 우리는 주님께서 말씀하신 대로 하겠습니다.
  2. 우리는 주님 앞에서 무장을 하고, 요단 강을 건너 가나안 땅으로 들어가겠습니다. 그러나 우리는 요단 강 이쪽에서만 우리의 소유가 될 땅을 차지하겠습니다."
  3. 모세는, 갓 자손과 르우벤 자손과 요셉의 아들 므낫세의 반쪽 지파에게, 아모리의 시혼 왕국과 바산의 옥 왕국을 주었다. 그것은 그 땅 전체와 거기에 딸린 성읍들과 주변 영토를 포함한 것이다.
  4. 갓 자손이 건축한 성읍들은, 디본과 아다롯과 아로엘과
  5. 아다롯소반과 야스엘과 욕브하와
  1. The sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, saying, "As the LORD has said to your servants, so we will do.
  2. "We ourselves will cross over armed in the presence of the LORD into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us across the Jordan."
  3. So Moses gave to them, to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Joseph's son Manasseh, the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og, the king of Bashan, the land with its cities with their territories, the cities of the surrounding land.
  4. The sons of Gad built Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer,
  5. and Atroth-shophan and Jazer and Jogbehah,
  1. 벳니므라와 벳하란 등인데, 요새화된 성읍들이다. 가축을 기를 우리도 만들었다.
  2. 르우벤 자손이 건축한 성읍은, 헤스본과 엘르알레와 기랴다임과
  3. 느보와 나중에 이름이 바뀐 바알므온과 십마 성읍 등이다. 그들은 성을 다 쌓은 다음에, 그들이 세운 성읍들에 새 이름을 붙였다.
  4. 므낫세의 아들 마길의 자손들은 길르앗으로 갔다. 거기에 있던 아모리 사람을, 더러는 사로잡고 더러는 내쫓았다.
  5. 그리하여 모세가 길르앗을 므낫세의 아들 마길에게 주었으며, 그들은 거기서 정착하였다.
  1. and Beth-nimrah and Beth-haran as fortified cities, and sheepfolds for sheep.
  2. The sons of Reuben built Heshbon and Elealeh and Kiriathaim,
  3. and Nebo and Baal-meon--their names being changed--and Sibmah, and they gave other names to the cities which they built.
  4. The sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it.
  5. So Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he lived in it.
  1. 므낫세의 아들 야일은 정착할 곳을 차지하고서, 그 곳을 하봇야일이라고 불렀다.
  2. 노바는 그낫과 그 주변의 주민들을 정복하고, 자기 이름을 따서 그 곳을 노바라고 불렀다.
  1. Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its towns, and called them Havvoth-jair.
  2. Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and called it Nobah after his own name.
