사무엘상 15:1-16:23

 아말렉과의 전투에서 승리한 사울은 출애굽 당시 이스라엘을 대적했던 그들을 완전히 진멸하라는 하나님의 명령을 거역했다. 하나님께서는 사무엘을 통하여 불순종한 사울의 폐위를 선언하신 후, 베들레헴으로 보내 다윗에게 기름을 부어 사울을 대신할 왕으로 선택하셨다. 다윗은 사울에게 수금을 타서 악신을 떠나게 해주며 그의 사랑을 받았다.
  
  사울의 폐위 선언(15:1-15:35)    
 
  1. 사무엘이 사울에게 말하였다. "주님께서 나를 보내셔서, 임금님에게 기름을 부어, 주님의 백성 이스라엘을 다스릴 왕으로 세우게 하셨습니다. 이제 주님께서 하시는 말씀을 들으시기 바랍니다.
  2. '만군의 주가 말한다. 이스라엘이 이집트에서 나올 때에, 아말렉이 이스라엘에게 한 일 곧 길을 막고 대적한 일 때문에 아말렉을 벌하겠다.
  3. 너는 이제 가서 아말렉을 쳐라. 그들에게 딸린 것은 모두 전멸시켜라. 사정을 보아 주어서는 안 된다. 남자와 여자, 어린아이와 젖먹이, 소 떼와 양 떼, 낙타와 나귀 등 무엇이든 가릴 것 없이 죽여라.'"
  4. 사울이 백성을 불러모으고 들라임에서 그 수를 헤아려 보니, 보병이 이십만 명이었다. 유다에서 온 사람도 만 명이나 되었다.
  5. 사울은 아말렉 성읍에 이르러서, 물 마른 개울에 군인들을 매복시켰다.
  1. Then Samuel said to Saul, "The LORD sent me to anoint you as king over His people, over Israel; now therefore, listen to the words of the LORD.
  2. "Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he set himself against him on the way while he was coming up from Egypt.
  3. 'Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'"
  4. Then Saul summoned the people and numbered them in Telaim, 200,000 foot soldiers and 10,000 men of Judah.
  5. Saul came to the city of Amalek and set an ambush in the valley.
  1. 사울이 겐 사람들에게 경고하였다. "당신들은 어서 거기에서 떠나시오. 내가 아말렉 사람들을 칠 때에, 당신들을 함께 치지 않도록, 그들 가운데서 떠나시오. 당신들은 이스라엘 자손이 이집트에서 올라올 때에, 그들에게 친절을 베푼 사람들이오." 그러자 겐 사람들이 아말렉 사람들 가운데서 빠져 나갔다.
  2. 그런 다음에 사울은, 하윌라에서부터 이집트의 동쪽에 있는 수르 지역에 이르기까지, 아말렉 사람을 쳤다.
  3. 아말렉 왕 아각은 사로잡았고, 나머지 백성은 모조리 칼로 쳐서 없애 버렸다.
  4. 그러나 사울과 그의 군대는, 아각뿐만 아니라, 양 떼와 소 떼 가운데서도 가장 좋은 것들과 가장 기름진 짐승들과 어린 양들과 좋은 것들은, 무엇이든지 모두 아깝게 여겨 진멸하지 않고, 다만 쓸모없고 값없는 것들만 골라서 진멸하였다.
  5. 주님께서 사무엘에게 말씀하셨다.
  1. Saul said to the Kenites, "Go, depart, go down from among the Amalekites, so that I do not destroy you with them; for you showed kindness to all the sons of Israel when they came up from Egypt." So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
  2. So Saul defeated the Amalekites, from Havilah as you go to Shur, which is east of Egypt.
  3. He captured Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
  4. But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were not willing to destroy them utterly; but everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.
  5. Then the word of the LORD came to Samuel, saying,
  1. "사울을 왕으로 세운 것이 후회된다. 그가 나에게서 등을 돌리고, 나의 명령을 따르지 않는다." 그래서 사무엘은 괴로운 마음으로 밤새도록 주님께 부르짖었다.
  2. 사무엘은 사울을 만나려고 아침에 일찍 일어났다. 누군가가, 사울이 갈멜로 가서 승전비를 세우고 나서, 거기에서 떠나 계속 행진하여 길갈로 내려갔다고 전해 주었다.
  3. 사무엘이 사울이 있는 곳에 이르니, 사울이 그를 보고 인사를 하며 말하였다. "주님께서 주시는 복을 받으시기 바랍니다. 나는 주님의 명령대로 다 하였습니다."
  4. 그러자 사무엘이 물었다. "나의 귀에 들리는 이 양 떼의 소리와 내가 듣는 소 떼의 소리는 무엇입니까?"
  5. 사울이 대답하였다. "그것은 아말렉 사람에게서 빼앗은 것입니다. 우리 군인들이 예언자께서 섬기시는 주 하나님께 제물로 바치려고, 양 떼와 소 떼 가운데서 가장 좋은 것들을 남겼다가 끌어왔습니다. 그러나 나머지 것들은 우리가 진멸하였습니다."
  1. "I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me and has not carried out My commands " And Samuel was distressed and cried out to the LORD all night.
  2. Samuel rose early in the morning to meet Saul; and it was told Samuel, saying, "Saul came to Carmel, and behold, he set up a monument for himself, then turned and proceeded on down to Gilgal."
  3. Samuel came to Saul, and Saul said to him, "Blessed are you of the LORD! I have carried out the command of the LORD."
  4. But Samuel said, "What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?"
  5. Saul said, "They have brought them from the Amalekites, for the people spared the best of the sheep and oxen, to sacrifice to the LORD your God; but the rest we have utterly destroyed."
  1. 사무엘이 사울을 꾸짖었다. "그만두십시오! 지난 밤에 주님께서 나에게 말씀하신 것을 내가 알려 드리겠습니다." 사울이 대답하였다. "말씀하십시오."
  2. 사무엘이 말하였다. "임금님이 스스로를 하찮은 사람이라고 생각하시던 그 무렵에, 주님께서 임금님께 기름을 부어 이스라엘의 왕으로 세우셨습니다. 그래서 임금님이 이스라엘 모든 지파의 어른이 되신 것이 아닙니까?
  3. 주님께서는 임금님을 전쟁터로 내보내시면서, 저 못된 아말렉 사람들을 진멸하고, 그들을 진멸할 때까지 그들과 싸우라고 하셨습니다.
  4. 그런데 어찌하여 주님께 순종하지 아니하고, 약탈하는 데만 마음을 쏟으면서, 주님께서 보시는 앞에서 악한 일을 하셨습니까?"
  5. 사울이 사무엘에게 대답하였다. "나는 주님께 순종하였습니다. 주님께서 보내시는 대로 전쟁터로 나갔고, 아말렉 왕 아각도 잡아왔고, 아말렉 사람도 진멸하였습니다.
  1. Then Samuel said to Saul, "Wait, and let me tell you what the LORD said to me last night." And he said to him, "Speak!"
  2. Samuel said, "Is it not true, though you were little in your own eyes, you were made the head of the tribes of Israel? And the LORD anointed you king over Israel,
  3. and the LORD sent you on a mission, and said, 'Go and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are exterminated.'
  4. "Why then did you not obey the voice of the LORD, but rushed upon the spoil and did what was evil in the sight of the LORD?"
  5. Then Saul said to Samuel, "I did obey the voice of the LORD, and went on the mission on which the LORD sent me, and have brought back Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
  1. 다만 우리 군인들이 전리품 가운데서 양 떼와 소 떼는 죽이지 않고 길갈로 끌어왔습니다. 그러나 그것은 예언자께서 섬기시는 주 하나님께 제물로 바치려고, 진멸할 짐승들 가운데서 가장 좋은 것으로 골라온 것입니다."
  2. 사무엘이 나무랐다. "주님께서 어느 것을 더 좋아하시겠습니까? 주님의 말씀에 순종하는 것이겠습니까? 아니면, 번제나 화목제를 드리는 것이겠습니까? 잘 들으십시오. 순종이 제사보다 낫고, 말씀을 따르는 것이 숫양의 기름보다 낫습니다.
  3. 거역하는 것은 점을 치는 죄와 같고, 고집을 부리는 것은 우상을 섬기는 죄와 같습니다. 임금님이 주님의 말씀을 버리셨기 때문에, 주님께서도 임금님을 버려 왕이 되지 못하게 하셨습니다."
  4. 사울이 사무엘에게 간청하였다. "내가 죄를 지었습니다. 주님의 명령과 예언자께서 하신 말씀을 어겼습니다. 내가 군인들을 두려워하여, 그들이 하자는 대로 하였습니다.
  5. 제발 나의 죄를 용서해 주시고, 나와 함께 가셔서, 내가 주님께 경배할 수 있도록 해주시기 바랍니다."
  1. "But the people took some of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the choicest of the things devoted to destruction, to sacrifice to the LORD your God at Gilgal."
  2. Samuel said, "Has the LORD as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.
  3. "For rebellion is as the sin of divination, And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king."
  4. Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned; I have indeed transgressed the command of the LORD and your words, because I feared the people and listened to their voice.
  5. "Now therefore, please pardon my sin and return with me, that I may worship the LORD."
  1. 사무엘이 사울에게 대답하였다. "나는 함께 돌아가지 않겠습니다. 임금님께서 주님의 말씀을 버리셨기 때문에, 주님께서도 이미 임금님을 버리셔서, 임금님이 더 이상 이스라엘을 다스리는 왕으로 있을 수 없도록 하셨습니다."
  2. 사무엘이 거기서 떠나려고 돌아설 때에, 사울이 그의 겉옷자락을 붙잡으니, 옷자락이 찢어졌다.
  3. 사무엘이 그에게 말하였다. "주님께서 오늘 이스라엘 나라를 이 옷자락처럼 찢어서 임금님에게서 빼앗아, 임금님보다 더 나은 다른 사람에게 주셨습니다.
  4. 이스라엘의 영광이신 하나님은 거짓말도 안 하시거니와, 뜻을 바꾸지도 않으십니다. 하나님은 사람이 아니십니다. 그러므로 하나님은 뜻을 바꾸지 않으십니다."
  5. 사울이 간청하였다. "내가 죄를 지었습니다. 그러나 나의 백성 이스라엘과 백성의 장로들 앞에서, 제발 나의 체면을 세워 주시기 바랍니다. 나와 함께 가셔서, 내가, 예언자께서 섬기시는 주 하나님께 경배할 수 있도록 하여 주십시오."
  1. But Samuel said to Saul, "I will not return with you; for you have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel."
  2. As Samuel turned to go, Saul seized the edge of his robe, and it tore.
  3. So Samuel said to him, "The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to your neighbor, who is better than you.
  4. "Also the Glory of Israel will not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man that He should change His mind."
  5. Then he said, "I have sinned; but please honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel, and go back with me, that I may worship the LORD your God."
  1. 사무엘이 사울을 따라 돌아가니, 사울이 주님께 경배를 드렸다.
  2. 사무엘이 아말렉의 아각 왕을 끌어내라고 명령하였다. 아각은 행여 죽을 고비를 넘겼나 싶어 좋아하면서 사무엘 앞에 나왔다.
  3. 사무엘이 말하였다. "당신의 칼에 뭇 여인이 자식을 잃었으니 당신의 어머니도 뭇 여인과 같이 자식을 잃을 것이오." 사무엘은 길갈 성소의 주님 앞에서 아각을 칼로 난도질하여 죽였다.
  4. 그런 다음에 사무엘은 라마로 돌아갔고, 사울은 사울기브아에 있는 자기 집으로 올라갔다.
  5. 그 다음부터 사무엘은, 사울 때문에 마음이 상하여, 죽는 날까지 다시는 사울을 만나지 않았고, 주님께서도 사울을 이스라엘의 왕으로 세우신 것을 후회하셨다.
  1. So Samuel went back following Saul, and Saul worshiped the LORD.
  2. Then Samuel said, "Bring me Agag, the king of the Amalekites." And Agag came to him cheerfully. And Agag said, "Surely the bitterness of death is past."
  3. But Samuel said, "As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women." And Samuel hewed Agag to pieces before the LORD at Gilgal.
  4. Then Samuel went to Ramah, but Saul went up to his house at Gibeah of Saul.
  5. Samuel did not see Saul again until the day of his death; for Samuel grieved over Saul. And the LORD regretted that He had made Saul king over Israel.
 
  기름 부음받은 다윗(16:1-16:23)    
 
  1. 주님께서 사무엘에게 말씀하셨다. "사울이 다시는 이스라엘을 다스리지 못하도록, 내가 이미 그를 버렸는데, 너는 언제까지 사울 때문에 괴로워할 것이냐? 너는 어서 뿔병에 기름을 채워 가지고 길을 떠나, 베들레헴 사람 이새에게로 가거라. 내가 이미 그의 아들 가운데서 왕이 될 사람을 한 명 골라 놓았다."
  2. 사무엘이 여쭈었다. "내가 어떻게 길을 떠날 수 있겠습니까? 사울이 이 소식을 들으면, 나를 죽일 것입니다." 주님께서 대답하셨다. "너는 암송아지를 한 마리 끌고 가서, 주님께 희생제물을 바치러 왔다고 말하여라.
  3. 그리고 이새를 제사에 초청하여라. 그 다음에 해야 할 일은, 내가 거기에서 너에게 일러주겠다. 너는 내가 거기에서 일러주는 사람에게 기름을 부어라."
  4. 사무엘이 주님께서 시키신 대로 하여 베들레헴에 이르니, 그 성읍의 장로들이 떨면서 나와 맞으며 물었다. "좋은 일로 오시는 겁니까?"
  5. 사무엘이 대답하였다. "그렇소. 좋은 일이오. 나는 주님께 희생제물을 바치러 왔소. 여러분은 몸을 성결하게 한 뒤에, 나와 함께 제사를 드리러 갑시다." 그런 다음에 사무엘은, 이새와 그의 아들들만은, 자기가 직접 성결하게 한 뒤에 제사에 초청하였다.
  1. Now the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons."
  2. But Samuel said, "How can I go? When Saul hears of it, he will kill me." And the LORD said, "Take a heifer with you and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to the LORD.'
  3. "You shall invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; and you shall anoint for Me the one whom I designate to you."
  4. So Samuel did what the LORD said, and came to Bethlehem And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him and said, "Do you come in peace?"
  5. He said, "In peace; I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice." He also consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
  1. 그들이 왔을 때에 사무엘은 엘리압을 보고, 속으로 '주님께서 기름부어 세우시려는 사람이 정말 주님 앞에 나와 섰구나' 하고 생각하였다.
  2. 그러나 주님께서 사무엘에게 이르셨다. "너는 그의 준수한 겉모습과 큰 키만을 보아서는 안 된다. 그는 내가 세운 사람이 아니다. 나는 사람이 판단하는 것처럼 그렇게 판단하지는 않는다. 사람은 겉모습만을 따라 판단하지만, 나 주는 중심을 본다."
  3. 다음으로 이새가 아비나답을 불러, 사무엘 앞으로 지나가게 하였다. 그러나 사무엘은 이 아들도 주님께서 뽑으신 사람이 아니라고 하였다.
  4. 이번에는 이새가 삼마를 지나가게 하였으나, 사무엘은 이 아들도 주님께서 뽑으신 사람이 아니라고 하였다.
  5. 이런 식으로 이새가 자기 아들 일곱을 모두 사무엘 앞으로 지나가게 하였으나, 사무엘은 이새에게 "주님께서는 이 아들들 가운데 어느 하나도 뽑지 않으셨소" 하고 말하였다.
  1. When they entered, he looked at Eliab and thought, "Surely the LORD'S anointed is before Him."
  2. But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
  3. Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, "The LORD has not chosen this one either."
  4. Next Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, "The LORD has not chosen this one either."
  5. Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, "The LORD has not chosen these."
  1. 사무엘이 이새에게 "아들들이 다 온 겁니까?" 하고 물으니, 이새가 대답하였다. "막내가 남아 있기는 합니다만, 지금 양 떼를 치러 나가고 없습니다." 사무엘이 이새에게 말하였다. "어서 사람을 보내어 데려오시오. 그가 이 곳에 오기 전에는 제물을 바치지 않겠소."
  2. 그래서 이새가 사람을 보내어 막내 아들을 데려왔다. 그는 눈이 아름답고 외모도 준수한 홍안의 소년이었다. 주님께서 말씀하셨다. "바로 이 사람이다. 어서 그에게 기름을 부어라!"
  3. 사무엘이 기름이 담긴 뿔병을 들고, 그의 형들이 둘러선 가운데서 다윗에게 기름을 부었다. 그러자 주님의 영이 그 날부터 계속 다윗을 감동시켰다. 사무엘은 거기에서 떠나, 라마로 돌아갔다.
  4. 사울에게서는 주님의 영이 떠났고, 그 대신에 주님께서 보내신 악한 영이 사울을 괴롭혔다.
  5. 신하들이 사울에게 아뢰었다. "임금님, 하나님이 보내신 악한 영이 지금 임금님을 괴롭히고 있습니다.
  1. And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are these all the children?" And he said, "There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is tending the sheep." Then Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and bring him; for we will not sit down until he comes here."
  2. So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance And the LORD said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is he."
  3. Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
  4. Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD terrorized him.
  5. Saul's servants then said to him, "Behold now, an evil spirit from God is terrorizing you.
  1. 임금님은 신하들에게, 수금을 잘 타는 사람을 하나 구하라고, 분부를 내려 주시기 바랍니다. 하나님이 보내신 악한 영이 임금님께 덮칠 때마다, 그가 손으로 수금을 타면, 임금님이 나으실 것입니다."
  2. 사울이 신하들에게 명령을 내렸다. "그러면 수금을 잘 타는 사람을 찾아 보고, 있으면 나에게로 데려오너라."
  3. 젊은 신하 가운데 한 사람이 대답하였다. "제가 베들레헴 사람 이새에게 그런 아들이 있는 것을 보았습니다. 그는 수금을 잘 탈 뿐만 아니라, 용사이며, 용감한 군인이며, 말도 잘하고, 외모도 좋은 사람인데다가, 주님께서 그와 함께 계십니다."
  4. 그러자 사울이 이새에게 심부름꾼들을 보내어, 양 떼를 치고 있는 그의 아들 다윗을 자기에게 보내라고 명령하였다.
  5. 이새는 곧 나귀 한 마리에, 빵과 가죽부대에 담은 포도주 한 자루와 염소 새끼 한 마리를 실어서, 자기 아들 다윗을 시켜 사울에게 보냈다.
  1. "Let our lord now command your servants who are before you. Let them seek a man who is a skillful player on the harp; and it shall come about when the evil spirit from God is on you, that he shall play the harp with his hand, and you will be well."
  2. So Saul said to his servants, "Provide for me now a man who can play well and bring him to me."
  3. Then one of the young men said, "Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who is a skillful musician, a mighty man of valor, a warrior, one prudent in speech, and a handsome man; and the LORD is with him."
  4. So Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, "Send me your son David who is with the flock."
  5. Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread and a jug of wine and a young goat, and sent them to Saul by David his son.
  1. 그리하여 다윗은 사울에게 와서, 그를 섬기게 되었다. 사울은 다윗을 매우 사랑하였으며, 마침내 그를 자기의 무기를 들고 다니는 사람으로 삼았다.
  2. 사울은 이새에게 사람을 보내어 일렀다. "다윗이 나의 마음에 꼭 드니, 나의 시중을 들게 하겠다."
  3. 그리하여 하나님이 보내신 악한 영이 사울에게 내리면, 다윗이 수금을 들고 와서 손으로 탔고, 그 때마다 사울에게 내린 악한 영이 떠났고, 사울은 제정신이 들었다.
  1. Then David came to Saul and attended him; and Saul loved him greatly, and he became his armor bearer.
  2. Saul sent to Jesse, saying, "Let David now stand before me, for he has found favor in my sight."
  3. So it came about whenever the evil spirit from God came to Saul, David would take the harp and play it with his hand; and Saul would be refreshed and be well, and the evil spirit would depart from him.
