- 이와 같이 집사들도, 신중하며, 한 입으로 두 말을 하지 아니하며, 술에 탐닉하지 아니하며, 부정한 이득을 탐내지 아니하며,
- 믿음의 비밀을 깨끗한 양심에 간직한 사람이라야 합니다.
- 이런 사람들을 먼저 시험하여 보고, 책망 받을 일이 없으면, 집사의 일을 하게 하십시오.
- 이와 같이 여자들도, 신중하며, 험담하지 아니하며, 절제하며, 모든 일에 성실한 사람이라야 합니다.
- 집사들은 한 아내의 남편이며, 자녀와 자기 가정을 잘 다스리는 사람이라야 합니다.

- Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain,
- but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
- These men must also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond reproach.
- Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.
- Deacons must be husbands of only one wife, and good managers of their children and their own households.

- 집사의 직무를 잘 수행한 사람들은 좋은 지위를 얻게 되고, 그리스도 예수를 믿는 믿음에 큰 확신을 얻게 됩니다.
- 내가 곧 그대에게 가기를 바라면서도, 이 편지로 이런 지시를 써 보내는 것은,
- 만일 내가 늦어지더라도, 하나님의 가족 가운데서 사람이 어떻게 처신해야 하는지를 그대가 알게 하려는 것입니다. 이 가족은 살아 계신 하나님의 교회요, 진리의 기둥과 터입니다.
- 이 경건의 비밀은 참으로 놀랍습니다. "그분은 육신으로 나타나시고, 성령으로 의롭다는 인정을 받으셨습니다. 천사들에게 보이시고, 만국에 전파되셨습니다. 세상이 그분을 믿었고, 그분은 영광에 싸여 들려 올라가셨습니다."

- For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a high standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
- I am writing these things to you, hoping to come to you before long;
- but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.
- By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.
