요나

  본서는 요나의 니느웨 구원 사건을 통하여 이방인에게 미치는 하나님의 구원의 손길을 명확하게 보여 주고 있으며, 사흘 간 물고기의 뱃속에 갇힌 요나 사건을 통해서 예수님의 부활 사건을 예표하고 있다.

  요나는 니느웨 선교 소명을 받았으나 불순종하여 하나님을 피해 달아난다. 그러나 하나님의 섭리로 물고기에게 삼키우게 된다. 이에 요나는 회개하고 소명을 감당한다. 니느웨는 요나의 외침을 듣고 회개하여 심판을 면하게 된다. 그러자 이를 본 요나는 하나님께 불평하지만, 하나님께서는 그에게 박 넝쿨의 교훈을 통해 하나님은 만민의 하나님이심을 깨우쳐 주신다.

 

 

요나 1:1-4:11

 요나는 하나님의 말씀을 전하도록 니느웨로 보내심을 받았으나 순종치 않고 배를 타고 도망하였다. 그러나 하나님께서 풍랑을 보내셔서 파선하게 되자, 그는 자신의 죄를 고백하고 바다에 던져졌다. 큰 물고기에게 삼켜져 그 뱃속에서 3일 간 회개하고 구원받은 요나는 니느웨(TM)에서 회개를 외쳤다. 그러나 그들이 회개하고 구원받자 하나님께 화를 내며 불평하였다. 이에 하나님께서는 박 넝쿨을 통해 그를 교훈하셨다.
  
  요나 선지자(1:1-4:11)    
 
  1. 주님께서 아밋대의 아들 요나에게 말씀하셨다.
  2. "너는 어서 저 큰 성읍 니느웨로 가서, 그 성읍에 대고 외쳐라. 그들의 죄악이 내 앞에까지 이르렀다."
  3. 그러나 요나는 주님의 낯을 피하여 스페인으로 도망가려고, 길을 떠나 욥바로 내려갔다. 마침 스페인으로 떠나는 배를 만나 뱃삯을 내고, 사람들과 함께 그 배를 탔다. 주님의 낯을 피하여 스페인으로 갈 셈이었다.
  4. 주님께서 바다 위로 큰 바람을 보내시니, 바다에 태풍이 일어나서, 배가 거의 부서지게 되었다.
  5. 뱃사람들은 두려움에 사로잡혀 저마다 저희 신들에게 부르짖고, 저희들이 탄 배를 가볍게 하려고, 배 안에 실은 짐을 바다에 내던졌다. 요나는 벌써부터 배 밑창으로 내려가 누워서, 깊이 잠들어 있었다.
  1. The word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai saying,
  2. "Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and cry against it, for their wickedness has come up before Me."
  3. But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD So he went down to Joppa, found a ship which was going to Tarshish, paid the fare and went down into it to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
  4. The LORD hurled a great wind on the sea and there was a great storm on the sea so that the ship was about to break up.
  5. Then the sailors became afraid and every man cried to his god, and they threw the cargo which was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone below into the hold of the ship, lain down and fallen sound asleep.
  1. 마침 선장이 그에게 와서, 그를 보고 소리를 쳤다. "당신은 무엇을 하고 있소? 잠을 자고 있다니! 일어나서 당신의 신에게 부르짖으시오. 행여라도 그 신이 우리를 생각해 준다면, 우리가 죽지 않을 수도 있지 않소?"
  2. 뱃사람들이 서로 말하였다. "우리가 어서 제비를 뽑아서, 누구 때문에 이런 재앙이 우리에게 내리는지 알아봅시다." 그들이 제비를 뽑으니, 그 제비가 요나에게 떨어졌다.
  3. 그들이 요나에게 물었다. "우리에게 말하시오. 누구 때문에 이런 재앙이 우리에게 내렸소? 당신은 무엇을 하는 사람이며, 어디서 오는 길이오? 어느 나라 사람이오? 어떤 백성이오?"
  4. 그가 그들에게 대답하였다. "나는 히브리 사람이오. 하늘에 계신 주 하나님, 바다와 육지를 지으신 그분을 섬기는 사람이오."
  5. 요나가 그들에게, 자기가 주님의 낯을 피하여 달아나고 있다고 말하니, 사람들이 그 사실을 알고, 겁에 질려서 그에게 소리쳤다. "어쩌자고 당신은 이런 일을 하였소?"
  1. So the captain approached him and said, "How is it that you are sleeping? Get up, call on your god Perhaps your god will be concerned about us so that we will not perish."
  2. Each man said to his mate, "Come, let us cast lots so we may learn on whose account this calamity has struck us " So they cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah.
  3. Then they said to him, "Tell us, now! On whose account has this calamity struck us? What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?"
  4. He said to them, "I am a Hebrew, and I fear the LORD God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land."
  5. Then the men became extremely frightened and they said to him, "How could you do this?" For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.
  1. 바다에 파도가 점점 더 거세게 일어나니, 사람들이 또 그에게 물었다. "우리가 당신을 어떻게 해야, 우리 앞의 저 바다가 잔잔해지겠소?"
  2. 그가 그들에게 대답하였다. "나를 들어서 바다에 던지시오. 그러면 당신들 앞의 저 바다가 잔잔해질 것이오. 바로 나 때문에 이 태풍이 당신들에게 닥쳤다는 것을, 나도 알고 있소."
  3. 뱃사람들은 육지로 되돌아가려고 노를 저었지만, 바다에 파도가 점점 더 거세게 일어났으므로 헛일이었다.
  4. 그들은 주님을 부르며 아뢰었다. "주님, 빕니다. 우리가 이 사람을 죽인다고 해서 우리를 죽이지 말아 주십시오. 주님께서는 뜻하시는 대로 하시는 분이시니, 우리에게 살인죄를 지우지 말아 주십시오."
  5. 그들은 요나를 들어서 바다에 던졌다. 폭풍이 일던 바다가 잔잔해졌다.
  1. So they said to him, "What should we do to you that the sea may become calm for us?"--for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy.
  2. He said to them, "Pick me up and throw me into the sea. Then the sea will become calm for you, for I know that on account of me this great storm has come upon you."
  3. However, the men rowed desperately to return to land but they could not, for the sea was becoming even stormier against them.
  4. Then they called on the LORD and said, "We earnestly pray, O LORD, do not let us perish on account of this man's life and do not put innocent blood on us; for You, O LORD, have done as You have pleased."
  5. So they picked up Jonah, threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped its raging.
  1. 사람들은 주님을 매우 두려워하게 되었으며, 주님께 희생제물을 바치고서, 주님을 섬기기로 약속하였다.
  2. 주님께서는 큰 물고기 한 마리를 마련하여 두셨다가, 요나를 삼키게 하셨다. 요나는 사흘 밤낮을 그 물고기 뱃속에서 지냈다.
  1. Then the men feared the LORD greatly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows.
  2. And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the stomach of the fish three days and three nights.
 
 
  1. 요나가 물고기 뱃속에서 주 하나님께 기도드리며
  2. 아뢰었다. "내가 고통스러울 때 주님께 불러 아뢰었더니, 주님께서 내게 응답하셨습니다. 내가 스올 한가운데서 살려 달라고 외쳤더니, 주님께서 나의 호소를 들어주셨습니다.
  3. 주님께서 나를 바다 한가운데, 깊음 속으로 던지셨으므로, 큰 물결이 나를 에워싸고, 주님의 파도와 큰 물결이 내 위에 넘쳤습니다.
  4. 내가 주님께 아뢰기를 '주님의 눈 앞에서 쫓겨났어도, 내가 반드시 주님 계신 성전을 다시 바라보겠습니다' 하였습니다.
  5. 물이 나를 두르기를 영혼까지 하였으며, 깊음이 나를 에워쌌고, 바다풀이 내 머리를 휘감았습니다.
  1. Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the stomach of the fish,
  2. and he said, "I called out of my distress to the LORD, And He answered me I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; You heard my voice.
  3. "For You had cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the current engulfed me All Your breakers and billows passed over me.
  4. "So I said, 'I have been expelled from Your sight Nevertheless I will look again toward Your holy temple.'
  5. "Water encompassed me to the point of death The great deep engulfed me, Weeds were wrapped around my head.
  1. 나는 땅 속 멧부리까지 내려갔습니다. 땅이 빗장을 질러 나를 영영 가두어 놓으려 했습니다만, 주 나의 하나님, 주님께서 그 구덩이 속에서 내 생명을 건져 주셨습니다.
  2. 내 목숨이 힘없이 꺼져 갈 때에, 내가 주님을 기억하였더니, 나의 기도가 주님께 이르렀으며, 주님 계신 성전에까지 이르렀습니다.
  3. 헛된 우상을 섬기는 자들은, 주님께서 베풀어 주신 은혜를 저버립니다.
  4. 그러나 나는 감사의 노래를 부르며, 주님께 희생제물을 바치겠습니다. 서원한 것은 무엇이든지 지키겠습니다. 구원은 오직 주님에게서만 옵니다."
  5. 주님께서 그 물고기에게 명하시니, 물고기가 요나를 뭍에다가 뱉어 냈다.
  1. "I descended to the roots of the mountains The earth with its bars was around me forever, But You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God.
  2. "While I was fainting away, I remembered the LORD, And my prayer came to You, Into Your holy temple.
  3. "Those who regard vain idols Forsake their faithfulness,
  4. But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving That which I have vowed I will pay Salvation is from the LORD."
  5. Then the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.
 
 
  1. 주님께서 또다시 요나에게 말씀하셨다.
  2. "너는 어서 저 큰 성읍 니느웨로 가서, 이제 내가 너에게 한 말을 그 성읍에 외쳐라."
  3. 요나는 주님께서 말씀하신 대로, 곧 길을 떠나 니느웨로 갔다. 니느웨는 둘러보는 데만 사흘길이나 되는 아주 큰 성읍이다.
  4. 요나는 그 성읍으로 가서 하룻길을 걸으며 큰소리로 외쳤다. "사십 일만 지나면 니느웨가 무너진다!"
  5. 그러자 니느웨 백성들은 하나님의 말씀을 믿고, 금식을 선포하고, 그들 가운데 가장 높은 사람으로부터 가장 낮은 사람에 이르기까지 모두 굵은 베 옷을 입었다.
  1. Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying,
  2. "Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to tell you."
  3. So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three days' walk.
  4. Then Jonah began to go through the city one day's walk; and he cried out and said, "Yet forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown."
  5. Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least of them.
  1. 이 소문이 니느웨의 왕에게 전해지니, 그도 임금의 의자에서 일어나, 걸치고 있던 임금의 옷을 벗고, 굵은 베 옷을 입고 잿더미에 앉았다.
  2. 왕은 니느웨 백성에게 다음과 같이 선포하여 알렸다."왕이 대신들과 더불어 내린 칙명을 따라서, 사람이든 짐승이든 소 떼든 양 떼든, 입에 아무것도 대서는 안 된다. 무엇을 먹어도 안 되고 물을 마셔도 안 된다.
  3. 사람이든 짐승이든 모두 굵은 베 옷만을 걸치고, 하나님께 힘껏 부르짖어라. 저마다 자기가 가던 나쁜 길에서 돌이키고, 힘이 있다고 휘두르던 폭력을 그쳐라.
  4. 하나님께서 마음을 돌리고 노여움을 푸실지 누가 아느냐? 그러면 우리가 멸망하지 않을 수도 있다."
  5. 하나님께서 그들이 뉘우치는 것, 곧 그들이 저마다 자기가 가던 나쁜 길에서 돌이키는 것을 보시고, 뜻을 돌이켜 그들에게 내리시겠다고 말씀하신 재앙을 내리지 않으셨다.
  1. When the word reached the king of Nineveh, he arose from his throne, laid aside his robe from him, covered himself with sackcloth and sat on the ashes.
  2. He issued a proclamation and it said, "In Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let man, beast, herd, or flock taste a thing. Do not let them eat or drink water.
  3. "But both man and beast must be covered with sackcloth; and let men call on God earnestly that each may turn from his wicked way and from the violence which is in his hands.
  4. "Who knows, God may turn and relent and withdraw His burning anger so that we will not perish."
  5. When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it.
 
 
  1. 요나는 이 일이 매우 못마땅하여, 화가 났다.
  2. 그는 주님께 기도하며 아뢰었다. "주님, 내가 고국에 있을 때에 이렇게 될 것이라고 이미 말씀드리지 않았습니까? 내가 서둘러 스페인으로 달아났던 것도 바로 이것 때문입니다. 하나님은 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 좀처럼 노하지 않으시며 사랑이 한없는 분이셔서, 내리시려던 재앙마저 거두실 것임을 내가 알고 있었기 때문입니다.
  3. 주님, 이제는 제발 내 목숨을 나에게서 거두어 주십시오! 이렇게 사느니, 차라리 죽는 것이 낫겠습니다."
  4. 주님께서는 "네가 화를 내는 것이 옳으냐?" 하고 책망하셨다.
  5. 요나는 그 성읍에서 빠져 나와 그 성읍 동쪽으로 가서 머물렀다. 그는 거기에다 초막을 짓고, 그 그늘 아래에 앉았다. 그 성읍이 어찌 되는가를 볼 셈이었다.
  1. But it greatly displeased Jonah and he became angry.
  2. He prayed to the LORD and said, "Please LORD, was not this what I said while I was still in my own country? Therefore in order to forestall this I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity.
  3. "Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for death is better to me than life."
  4. The LORD said, "Do you have good reason to be angry?"
  5. Then Jonah went out from the city and sat east of it. There he made a shelter for himself and sat under it in the shade until he could see what would happen in the city.
  1. 주 하나님이 박 넝쿨을 마련하셨다. 주님께서는, 그것이 자라올라 요나의 머리 위에 그늘이 지게 하여, 그를 편안하게 해주셨다. 박 넝쿨 때문에 요나는 기분이 무척 좋았다.
  2. 그러나 다음날 동이 틀 무렵, 하나님이 벌레를 한 마리 마련하셨는데, 그것이 박 넝쿨을 쏠아 버리니, 그 식물이 시들고 말았다.
  3. 해가 뜨자, 하나님이 찌는 듯이 뜨거운 동풍을 마련하셨다. 햇볕이 요나의 머리 위로 내리쬐니, 그는 기력을 잃고 죽기를 자청하면서 말하였다. "이렇게 사느니 차라리 죽는 것이 더 낫겠습니다."
  4. 하나님이 요나에게 말씀하셨다. "박 넝쿨이 죽었다고 네가 이렇게 화를 내는 것이 옳으냐?" 요나가 대답하였다. "옳다뿐이겠습니까? 저는 화가 나서 죽겠습니다."
  5. 주님께서 말씀하셨다. "네가 수고하지도 않았고, 네가 키운 것도 아니며, 그저 하룻밤 사이에 자라났다가 하룻밤 사이에 죽어 버린 이 식물을 네가 그처럼 아까워하는데,
  1. So the LORD God appointed a plant and it grew up over Jonah to be a shade over his head to deliver him from his discomfort. And Jonah was extremely happy about the plant.
  2. But God appointed a worm when dawn came the next day and it attacked the plant and it withered.
  3. When the sun came up God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah's head so that he became faint and begged with all his soul to die, saying, "Death is better to me than life."
  4. Then God said to Jonah, "Do you have good reason to be angry about the plant?" And he said, "I have good reason to be angry, even to death."
  5. Then the LORD said, "You had compassion on the plant for which you did not work and which you did not cause to grow, which came up overnight and perished overnight.
  1. 하물며 좌우를 가릴 줄 모르는 사람들이 십이만 명도 더 되고 짐승들도 수없이 많은 이 큰 성읍 니느웨를, 어찌 내가 아끼지 않겠느냐?"
  1. "Should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know the difference between their right and left hand, as well as many animals?"
