- 그 다음에 십사 년이 지나서, 나는 바나바와 함께 디도를 데리고, 다시 예루살렘으로 올라갔습니다.
- 내가 거기에 올라간 것은 계시를 따른 것이었습니다. 나는 이방 사람들에게 전하는 복음을 그들에게 설명하고, 유명한 사람들에게는 따로 설명하였습니다. 그것은, 내가 달리고 있는 일이나 지금까지 달린 일이 헛되지 않게 하려고 한 것입니다.
- 나와 함께 있는 디도는 그리스 사람이지만, 할례를 강요받지 않았습니다.
- 몰래 들어온 거짓 신도들 때문에 할례를 강요받는 일이 있었던 것입니다. 그들은 우리를 노예로 만들고자 하여, 그리스도 예수 안에서 누리는 우리의 자유를 엿보려고 몰래 끼여든 자들입니다.
- 우리는 그들에게 잠시도 굴복하지 않았습니다. 그것은 복음의 진리가 언제나 여러분과 함께 있게 하려고 한 것입니다.

- Then after an interval of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along also.
- It was because of a revelation that I went up; and I submitted to them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but I did so in private to those who were of reputation, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain.
- But not even Titus, who was with me, though he was a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.
- But it was because of the false brethren secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into bondage.
- But we did not yield in subjection to them for even an hour, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.

- 그 유명하다는 사람들로부터 나는 아무런 제안도 받지 않았습니다. -그들이 어떤 사람들이든지, 나에게는 아무 상관이 없습니다. 하나님께서는 사람을 겉모양으로 판단하지 않으십니다.- 그 유명한 사람들은 나에게 아무런 제안을 하지 않았습니다.
- 도리어 그들은, 베드로가 할례 받은 사람에게 복음을 전하는 일을 맡은 것과 같이, 내가 할례 받지 않은 사람에게 복음을 전하는 일을 맡은 것을 알게 되었습니다.
- 그들은, 베드로에게는 할례 받은 사람에게 복음을 전하게 하시려고 사도직을 주신 분이, 나에게는 할례 받지 않은 사람에게 복음을 전하게 하시려고 사도직을 주셨다는 사실을 깨달았습니다.
- 그래서 기둥으로 인정받는 야고보와 게바와 요한은, 하나님이 나에게 주신 은혜를 인정하고, 나와 바나바에게 오른손을 내밀어서, 친교의 악수를 하였습니다. 그렇게 하여, 우리는 이방 사람에게로 가고, 그들은 할례 받은 사람에게로 가기로 하였습니다.
- 다만, 그들이 우리에게 바란 것은 가난한 사람을 기억해 달라고 한 것인데, 그것은 바로 내가 마음을 다하여 해 오던 일이었습니다.

- But from those who were of high reputation (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)--well, those who were of reputation contributed nothing to me.
- But on the contrary, seeing that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised
- (for He who effectually worked for Peter in his apostleship to the circumcised effectually worked for me also to the Gentiles),
- and recognizing the grace that had been given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, so that we might go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.
- They only asked us to remember the poor--the very thing I also was eager to do.

- 그런데 게바가 안디옥에 왔을 때에 잘못한 일이 있어서, 나는 얼굴을 마주 보고 그를 나무랐습니다.
- 그것은 게바가, 야고보에게서 몇몇 사람이 오기 전에는 이방 사람들과 함께 음식을 먹다가, 그들이 오니, 할례 받은 사람들을 두려워하여 그 자리를 떠나 물러난 일입니다.
- 나머지 유대 사람들도 그와 함께 위선을 하였고, 마침내는 바나바까지도 그들의 위선에 끌려갔습니다.
- 나는 그들이 복음의 진리를 따라 똑바로 걷지 않는 것을 보고, 모든 사람 앞에서 게바에게 이렇게 말하였습니다. "당신은 유대 사람인데도 유대 사람처럼 살지 않고 이방 사람처럼 살면서, 어찌하여 이방 사람더러 유대 사람이 되라고 강요합니까?"
- 우리는 본디 유대 사람이요, 이방인 출신의 죄인이 아닙니다.

- But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.
- For prior to the coming of certain men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and hold himself aloof, fearing the party of the circumcision.
- The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.
- But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, "If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?
- "We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles;

- 그러나 사람이, 율법을 행하는 행위로 의롭게 되는 것이 아니라, 예수 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 의롭게 되는 것임을 알고, 우리도 그리스도 예수를 믿은 것입니다. 그것은, 우리가 율법을 행하는 행위로가 아니라, 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 의롭다고 하심을 받고자 했던 것입니다. 율법을 행하는 행위로는, 아무도 의롭게 될 수 없기 때문입니다.

- nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
