예레미야 17:1-18:23

 하나님께서는 물가의 푸른 나무와 어리석은 자고새의 비유를 통해, 하나님을 떠나 멸망받게 된 유다 백성들의 구원자가 오직 하나님뿐임을 깨우쳐 주셨다. 예레미야는 하나님을 의뢰하는 실천적 교훈으로 안식일 성수를 촉구하였다. 또한 토기장이의 비유를 통해 하나님의 절대 주권을 증거하고 돌이킬 수 없는 심판을 예고하면서 회개를 촉구하였다. 그러나 완악한 백성들이 자신을 치려 하자, 그는 하나님께 그들에 대한 징계를 호소했다.
  
  유다의 죄와 심판(17:1-18:17)    
 
  1. "유다의 죄는 그들의 마음 판에 철필로 기록되어 있고, 금강석 촉으로 새겨져 있다. 그들의 제단 뿔 위에도 그 죄가 새겨져 있다.
  2. 자손은 그 기록을 보고서, 조상이 지은 죄를 기억할 것이다. 온갖 푸른 나무 곁에, 높은 언덕에, 들판에 있는 여러 산에, 그들의 조상이 쌓은 제단과 만들어 세운 아세라 목상들을 기억할 것이다. 네가 나라 구석구석에서 지은 죄의 값으로, 내가 네 모든 재산과 보물을 약탈품으로 원수에게 넘겨 주겠다.
  4. 그리고 너는, 네 몫으로 받은 땅에서 쫓겨날 것이며, 네가 알지도 못하는 땅으로 끌려가서, 네 원수를 섬기게 될 것이다. 너희가 나의 분노를 불처럼 타오르게 하였으니, 이 분노의 불이 영원히 꺼지지 않을 것이다."
  5. "나 주가 말한다. 나 주에게서 마음을 멀리하고, 오히려 사람을 의지하며, 사람이 힘이 되어 주려니 하고 믿는 자는, 저주를 받을 것이다.
  1. The sin of Judah is written down with an iron stylus; With a diamond point it is engraved upon the tablet of their heart And on the horns of their altars,
  2. As they remember their children, So they remember their altars and their Asherim By green trees on the high hills.
  3. O mountain of Mine in the countryside, I will give over your wealth and all your treasures for booty, Your high places for sin throughout your borders.
  4. And you will, even of yourself, let go of your inheritance That I gave you; And I will make you serve your enemies In the land which you do not know; For you have kindled a fire in My anger Which will burn forever.
  5. Thus says the LORD, "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD.
  1. 그는 황야에서 자라는 가시덤불 같아서, 좋은 일이 오는 것을 볼 수 없을 것이다. 그는, 소금기가 많아서 사람이 살 수도 없는 땅, 메마른 사막에서 살게 될 것이다."
  2. 그러나 주님을 믿고 의지하는 사람은 복을 받을 것이다.

  5. "각 사람의 마음을 살피고, 심장을 감찰하며, 각 사람의 행실과 행동에 따라 보상하는 이는 바로 나 주다."
  1. "For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant.
  2. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD.
  3. "For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.
  4. "The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?
  5. "I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.
  1. 불의로 재산을 모은 사람은 자기가 낳지 않은 알을 품는 자고새와 같아서, 인생의 한창때에 그 재산을 잃을 것이며, 말년에는 어리석은 사람의 신세가 될 것이다.
  2. 우리의 성전은 영광스러운 보좌와 같다. 처음부터 높은 산 위에 자리를 잡았다.
  3. 주님, 이스라엘의 희망은 주님이십니다. 주님을 버리는 사람마다 수치를 당하고, 주님에게서 떠나간 사람마다 생수의 근원이신 주님을 버리고 떠나간 것이므로, 그들은 땅바닥에 쓴 이름처럼 지워지고 맙니다.
  4. 주님, 저를 고쳐 주십시오. 그러면 제가 나을 것입니다. 저를 살려 주십시오. 그러면 제가 살아날 것입니다. 주님은 제가 찬양할 분이십니다.
  5. 백성이 저에게 빈정거리는 말을 들어 보십시오. "주님께서는 말씀으로만 위협하시지, 별 것도 아니지 않으냐! 어디 위협한 대로 되게 해보시지!" 합니다.
  1. "As a partridge that hatches eggs which it has not laid, So is he who makes a fortune, but unjustly; In the midst of his days it will forsake him, And in the end he will be a fool."
  2. A glorious throne on high from the beginning Is the place of our sanctuary.
  3. O LORD, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You will be put to shame Those who turn away on earth will be written down, Because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the LORD.
  4. Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; Save me and I will be saved, For You are my praise.
  5. Look, they keep saying to me, "Where is the word of the LORD? Let it come now!"
  1. 그러나 저는 목자가 되지 않으려고 도망을 가거나, 주님 섬기기를 피하려고 하지도 않았습니다. 재앙의 날을 오게 해달라고 간구하지도 않았습니다. 주님께서 보시는 앞에서 제가 아뢰었으므로, 주님께서는 제가 무엇을 아뢰었는지를 알고 계십니다.
  2. 저를 무섭게 하지 마십시오. 주님은 재앙의 날에 저의 피난처이십니다.
  3. 저를 박해하는 사람들이 수치를 당하게 하시고, 제가 수치를 당하지는 않게 하여 주십시오. 그들이 무서워 당황하게 하시고, 제가 무서워 당황하지는 않게 하여 주십시오. 이제는 그들에게 재앙의 날이 오게 하시며, 갑절의 형벌로 그들을 멸망시켜 주십시오.
  4. 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너는 가서, 유다의 왕들이 출입하는 '백성의 문'과 예루살렘의 모든 성문에 서서,
  5. 그들에게 전하여라. '이 모든 성문으로 들어오는 유다의 왕들과 유다의 모든 백성과 예루살렘의 모든 주민아, 너희는 나 주의 말을 들어라.
  1. But as for me, I have not hurried away from being a shepherd after You, Nor have I longed for the woeful day; You Yourself know that the utterance of my lips Was in Your presence.
  2. Do not be a terror to me; You are my refuge in the day of disaster.
  3. Let those who persecute me be put to shame, but as for me, let me not be put to shame; Let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed Bring on them a day of disaster, And crush them with twofold destruction!
  4. Thus the LORD said to me, "Go and stand in the public gate, through which the kings of Judah come in and go out, as well as in all the gates of Jerusalem;
  5. and say to them, 'Listen to the word of the LORD, kings of Judah, and all Judah and all inhabitants of Jerusalem who come in through these gates:
  1. 나 주가 말한다. 너희가 생명을 잃지 않으려거든, 안식일에는 어떠한 짐도 옮기지 말고, 짐을 가지고 예루살렘의 성문 안으로 들어오지도 말아라.
  2. 안식일에는 너희의 집에서 짐도 내가지 말아라. 어떠한 일도 해서는 안 된다. 너희는, 내가 너희 조상에게 명한 대로, 안식일을 거룩하게 지켜야 한다.
  3. 그러나 너희 조상은 아예 듣지도 않았고 귀를 기울이지도 않았다. 그들은 나에게 순종하지도 않았고, 교훈을 받아들이지도 않았으며, 고집을 꺾지도 않았다.
  4. 나 주의 말이다. 너희가 이제 나의 말에 잘 순종해서, 안식일에 이 도성의 성문 안으로 어떠한 짐도 가져 오지 않고, 안식일을 거룩하게 지키면서, 그 날에는 어떠한 일도 하지 않으면,
  5. 다윗의 보좌에 앉은 왕들이, 병거와 군마를 타고, 대신들을 거느리고, 유다 사람과 예루살렘 주민까지 거느리고, 이 도성의 성문 안으로 들어올 것이다. 이 도성에서는 영원히 사람이 살 것이다.
  1. 'Thus says the LORD, "Take heed for yourselves, and do not carry any load on the sabbath day or bring anything in through the gates of Jerusalem.
  2. "You shall not bring a load out of your houses on the sabbath day nor do any work, but keep the sabbath day holy, as I commanded your forefathers.
  3. "Yet they did not listen or incline their ears, but stiffened their necks in order not to listen or take correction.
  4. "But it will come about, if you listen attentively to Me," declares the LORD, "to bring no load in through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but to keep the sabbath day holy by doing no work on it,
  5. then there will come in through the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and this city will be inhabited forever.
  1. 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘 주변과 베냐민 땅과 평원지대와 산간지역과 남방에서부터 사람들이 번제물과 희생제물과 곡식제물과 유향을 가지고 와서, 주의 성전에서 감사의 제물로 바칠 것이다.
  2. 그러나 너희가 안식일을 거룩하게 지키라는 나의 말을 듣지 않고, 안식일에 짐을 옮기며, 예루살렘의 성문 안으로 짐을 가지고 들어오면, 내가 이 성문에 불을 질러, 예루살렘의 궁궐을 태워 버릴 것이다. 아무도 그 불을 끄지 못할 것이다.'"
  1. "They will come in from the cities of Judah and from the environs of Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hill country and from the Negev, bringing burnt offerings, sacrifices, grain offerings and incense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving to the house of the LORD.
  2. "But if you do not listen to Me to keep the sabbath day holy by not carrying a load and coming in through the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem and not be quenched."'"
 
 
  1. 이것은 주님께서 예레미야에게 하신 말씀이다.
  2. "너는 어서 토기장이의 집으로 내려가거라. 거기에서 내가 너에게 나의 말을 선포하겠다."
  3. 그래서 내가 토기장이의 집으로 내려갔더니, 토기장이가 마침 물레를 돌리며 일을 하고 있었다.
  4. 그런데 그 토기장이는 진흙으로 그릇을 빚다가 잘 되지 않으면, 그 흙으로 다른 그릇을 빚었다.
  5. 그 때에 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다.
  1. The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying,
  2. "Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will announce My words to you."
  3. Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was, making something on the wheel.
  4. But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make.
  5. Then the word of the LORD came to me saying,
  1. "'이스라엘 백성아, 내가 이 토기장이와 같이 너희를 다룰 수가 없겠느냐? 나 주의 말이다. 이스라엘 백성아, 진흙이 토기장이의 손 안에 있듯이, 너희도 내 손 안에 있다.
  2. 내가 어떤 민족이나 나라의 뿌리를 뽑아내거나, 그들을 부수거나 멸망시키겠다고 말을 하였더라도,
  3. 그 민족이 내가 경고한 죄악에서 돌이키기만 하면 나는 그들에게 내리려고 생각한 재앙을 거둔다.
  4. 그러나 내가 어떤 민족이나 나라를 세우고 심겠다고 말을 하였더라도,
  5. 그 백성이 나의 말을 순종하지 않고, 내가 보기에 악한 일을 하기만 하면, 나는 그들에게 내리기로 약속한 복을 거둔다.'
  1. "Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.
  2. "At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it;
  3. if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it.
  4. "Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it;
  5. if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it.
  1. 그러므로 너는 이제 유다 사람과 예루살렘 주민에게 전하여라. '나 주가 말한다. 내가 너희에게 내릴 재앙을 마련하고 있으며, 너희를 칠 계획도 세우고 있다. 그러므로 너희는 어서, 각기 자신의 사악한 길에서 돌이키고, 너희의 행동과 행실을 고쳐라.'
  2. 네가 이렇게 말하면, 그들은 이르기를 '그럴 필요 없다. 우리는 우리 생각대로 살아가겠다. 우리는 각자 자신의 악한 마음에서 나오는 고집대로 행동하겠다' 할 것이다."
  3. "그러므로 나 주가 말한다. 누가 이와 같은 말을 들어 보았는지, 세상 만민에게 물어 보아라. 처녀 이스라엘은 너무 역겨운 일을 저질렀다.
  4. 레바논 산의 험준한 바위 봉우리에 눈이 없는 때가 있더냐? 거기에서 흘러 내리는 시원한 물줄기가 마르는 일이 있더냐?
  5. 그러나 내 백성은 나를 잊어버리고, 헛된 우상들에게 분향을 한다. 옛부터 걸어온 바른길을 벗어나서, 이정표도 없는 길로 들어섰다.
  1. "So now then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem saying, 'Thus says the LORD, "Behold, I am fashioning calamity against you and devising a plan against you Oh turn back, each of you from his evil way, and reform your ways and your deeds."'
  2. "But they will say, 'It's hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.'
  3. "Therefore thus says the LORD, 'Ask now among the nations, Who ever heard the like of this? The virgin of Israel Has done a most appalling thing.
  4. 'Does the snow of Lebanon forsake the rock of the open country? Or is the cold flowing water from a foreign land ever snatched away?
  5. 'For My people have forgotten Me, They burn incense to worthless gods And they have stumbled from their ways, From the ancient paths, To walk in bypaths, Not on a highway,
  1. 그들이 사는 땅을 황폐하게 만들어 영영 비웃음거리가 되게 하니, 그 곳을 지나가는 사람마다 놀라서 머리를 흔들며 비웃는다.
  2. 내가 그들을 원수 앞에서 흩어 버리기를 동풍으로 흩어 버리듯 할 것이며, 그들이 재난을 당하는 날, 내가 그들에게 등을 돌리고, 내 얼굴을 보이지 않을 것이다."
  1. To make their land a desolation, An object of perpetual hissing; Everyone who passes by it will be astonished And shake his head.
  2. 'Like an east wind I will scatter them Before the enemy; I will show them My back and not My face In the day of their calamity.'"
 
  음모와 기도(18:18-18:23)    
 
  1. 백성이 나를 두고 이르기를 "이제 예레미야를 죽일 계획을 세우자. 이 사람이 없어도 우리에게는 율법을 가르쳐 줄 제사장이 있고, 지혜를 가르쳐 줄 현자가 있으며, 말씀을 전하여 줄 예언자가 있다. 그러니 어서 우리의 혀로 그를 헐뜯자. 그가 하는 모든 말을 무시하여 버리자" 합니다.
  2. 주님, 저의 호소를 들어주십시오. 원수들이 저를 두고 하는 말을 들어 보십시오!
  3. 선을 악으로 갚아도 되는 겁니까? 그런데도 그들은 제 목숨을 노려서 함정을 팠습니다. 제가 주님 앞에 나서서 그들을 변호한 것, 주님께서 그들을 보시고 진노하셨지만, 주님의 진노를 풀어드리려고 그들을 생각하면서, 주님의 은혜를 간구한 것을, 기억하여 주십시오.
  4. 그들이 이렇게 배은망덕하니, 그들의 아들딸들이 굶어 죽거나 전쟁에서 죽게 하여 주십시오. 그들의 아내들이 아들딸들을 잃게 하시고, 남편들을 잃어 과부가 되게 하여 주십시오. 장정들은 전쟁터에서 칼에 찔려 죽게 하여 주십시오.
  5. 그들이 저를 잡으려고 함정을 팠고, 제 발을 걸리게 하려고 올가미들을 숨겨 놓았으니, 주님께서 그들에게 약탈하는 자들을 졸지에 보내 주셔서, 그들의 집집마다 울부짖는 소리가 터져 나오게 하여 주십시오.
  1. Then they said, "Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah Surely the law is not going to be lost to the priest, nor counsel to the sage, nor the divine word to the prophet! Come on and let us strike at him with our tongue, and let us give no heed to any of his words."
  2. Do give heed to me, O LORD, And listen to what my opponents are saying!
  3. Should good be repaid with evil? For they have dug a pit for me Remember how I stood before You To speak good on their behalf, So as to turn away Your wrath from them.
  4. Therefore, give their children over to famine And deliver them up to the power of the sword; And let their wives become childless and widowed Let their men also be smitten to death, Their young men struck down by the sword in battle.
  5. May an outcry be heard from their houses, When You suddenly bring raiders upon them; For they have dug a pit to capture me And hidden snares for my feet.
  1. 주님, 저를 죽이려는 그들의 모든 흉계를 주님께서는 다 아시니, 그들의 죄악을 용서하지 마시고, 그들의 허물을 가볍게 다루지도 마십시오. 주님께서 진노하시는 날에, 그들이 주님 앞에서 거꾸러져 죽게 하여 주십시오.
  1. Yet You, O LORD, know All their deadly designs against me; Do not forgive their iniquity Or blot out their sin from Your sight But may they be overthrown before You; Deal with them in the time of Your anger!
